The Decca sessions, recorded on 1 January 1962 in West Hampstead. The 1979 release seems to have come from a tape gifted to a third party in the 1960s by Brian Epstein. The Beatles have owned the tape since the 1980s and took legal action confirming that they owned the copyright in 1989.

Recording is too fast. If you want to listen to this LP fast and get through the material, this may be for you. Pic Disc is a cash in....I bought it 40 years ago. Maybe listened to it twice...once 40 years ago, and now today. A reply to a post on "The Daily Beatle" website regarding this pressing was apparently posted by the "remix" engineer. From 2014-08-20: "Hi.. On back (sleeve) you will see the re-mix engineering was done by EHB…that is me. From the wire (SIC) recording I mastered it on a the first IBM digital recorders to clean it up…The good old days…"
Sounds good but tracks all in different order to what is said on the record- Great sounding pressing. The songs have a faster tempo than those online, but on playback it is not noticeable, only if you know it you, will hear it. I do not have other physical versions to compare, however, this is a great pressing.
- Mixed at faster speed, so difficult to decipher the vocalist on most tracks , luckily my record player has varied speed control … so actually not so bad
Although Ringo Starr is on the cover, these recordings were all made with Pete Best. Wrong release by staff which had no idea who played at that time with the group.
the speed is way off, had to adjust my turntables pitch control by 5.7%. but once the pitch sounded somewhat correct, the sound quality is fantastic in spite of the cheap, noisy pressing.
