A lot of people diss this release claiming it is over EQ'd and is nothing "like the real thing".
Lets face the facts, the real thing, or the UK original release sounds terrible. This MFSL pressing sounds superb. Probably the best sounding drums compared to any other issue.
The Steven Wilson Remix is also another strong contender, however i find myself reaching for the MFSL more often.
In my lowly and wretched opinion (contrary to many others) I think the sound of this pressing is far more dynamic and lively than the more revered DCC pressing, WHICH I HAD! I traded it for some really nice albums 😁
Honestly, I could never get into the DCC because on my system anyway it just came across as rather dead sounding. So, when doing a critical comparison, this one easily beat it, primarily in dynamics and liveliness. Perhaps others who prize tonal response more MIGHT find that more pleasing, IDK... But, my system is set up strongly to favour image and soundstage:
