- Perfectly pressed. Flat, black silent pressing. Most things these days are now digitally recorded, this is one of many digital recordings that sounds great on vinyl. Up there with those Cowboy Junkies, Peter Gabriel, Lyle Lovett etc releases recorded digitally that sound better on vinyl than on their CD counterparts (full disclosure - I don't stream so cannot compare to Hi-res digital streaming versions)
- Изменено год назадEasily one the best sounding albums I own. Simply outstanding.
The recording itself almost sounds live. Sound stage is exceptional.
Side B of the first copy I received was full of surface noise. Just a bad pressing.
The second copy I received was perfect. - Изменено год назадI was at the store in early '94 to purchase my copy of this release, on cassette. Big fan of Pat, but always enjoy seeing Sco live. The album has the feel of a jam session but with perfectly executed arrangements. The interplay and communication is stunningly good. Of course with Bill Stewart and Steve Swallow, you can't miss.
I really didn't want to pay $60 for this vinyl reissue, So I waited and finally found a sealed copy for $25. Sweet.
Has a great analog sound and the remaster by Kevin Gray is stunning. Overall a beautiful sounding record. The pressing looks good, but there's ghosting in between nearly every track, which is a detractor for me. Also some noise in A3, possibly non-fill.
4.25 stars. Glad it's finally on vinyl. - I do enjoy this album quite a bit. Digitally recorded with that crispy digital sound, that's for damn sure, but recorded well overall and the vinyl warms it up somewhat. Excellent musicianship and I'm glad to see tone poet going in more modern directions. Robert Glasper in a Tone Poet soon, please.... and more John Scofield!
- Killer Pressing I own A very capable Hi-Fi over 500wpc of clean power though my Infinity Kappa 8s adequately makes brilliant Pressings sound glorious 😀 😘🦻
This pressing sounds so good you could charge your neighbours a ticket 🎟 price just for the spill over they get 🤗
Dynamics 10/10 Separation 10/10 bass_ guitar_drums_ is just magical ✨️ ♥️ jaw dropping pressing just buy it and enjoy btw closing notes 📝 📋 the vinyl is dead quiet except for Analogue mastered tapes his In between track's 🦻Btw I like to hear..
Also vinyl is flat as a pan cake .. - The Wikipedia page for this album states Scofield was recorded on the left channel and Pat on the right. Is that true? On this copy it does not seem to be the case. Was it like that for earlier releases?
- I ordered it, because of all the positive reviews. I couldn't help myself. Once again a huge disappointment.. Musically I would give this album 5 stars. I already owned it on CD, so I know it very well. Pressing wise it's just dramatic. Side 1 LP1 has a lot of surface noise, especially the first 2 tracks. Side 2 is unplayable, because there's some substance on the surface, which declines the needle to even go to the first track, so I have to start somewhere in the middle of the first track. It's my 3rd Tone Poet and the second one which I have to return (my Kenny Burrell had a scratch which made the record unplayable), so 33% success rate, which, to my standards, is way below acceptable. With the Kenny Burrell I thought; okay, can happen, but after this I'm starting to have my doubts about the quality control. Even the inner sleeves were completely folded. The packaging is beautiful, sound quality is nice, but this is just unacceptable...
- Sounds so very good. Yep ofcourse no analog warmth but they did amazing job on this one. A superb album by John and Pat . Highly appriciated Blue Note for this wonderful record👍
