- I purchased this record brand new, and I couldn't be more pleased. The sound is very good, crystal clear with no crackles, and it features excellent dynamics. Overall, I'm really happy with this copy. It's definitely not a cheap cash grab. However, I don't like that the hype sticker has been placed directly on the sleeve, as I would prefer to see the full artwork. Fortunately, it leaves no residue, so it is not a big deal for me.
- Bought brand new sealed from an independent seller. Great pressing, record is flat and well centered, it sounds almost dead silent. This remaster sounds excellent, very dynamic and engaging. I didn't heard older pressings to compare, but I'm very happy with my copy. 4.7 / 5
- Edited 6 months agoFor bands like Led Zeppelin, I prefer to collect vintage records as they have much larger soundstage and higher dynamics compared to the recent issues (i.e Jimmy Page remasters). This debut album, however, is AMAZING.
I have owned two Canadian pressings from the 70s and the first Canadian pressing and compared it with this one. This one wins in my opinion (can’t speak for UK/US vintage releases). This one “jumps out of the speaker” with my entry level setup.
The only parts where the mix gets a bit lost are the very crash heavy loud parts. You can hear a bit of clipping/harsh crash sound. While the vintage records have a more realistic sounding snare, this one is still great. - Edited 8 months agoI have 1st Canadian copy (red label) and 1979 reissue, and then I picked up this copy due to my positive experience with 2014 remastered Zeppelin II. i think this 2020 copy (same mastering as 2014) sounds more than decent. Details, sound stage, top & bottom end extension are flawless, not to mention nice and quiet new vinyl. The only noticeable part slight inferior to original copy is Robert's voice. New copy is brighter less meaty & breathy, but that’s with my MC cartridge. Luckily I have other cartridges to play around. One of MM cartridge produces warmer meatier vocal so this vinyl plays perfectly. For around C$30 I think people should be very happy.
- For a $25 CAD record at Indigo, this sounds stellar. I’m planning on trying to grab an early Canadian at some point, but until then this will do the trick!
- Edited 8 months agoAbsolutely flat and dead quiet. I only lack the bass punch when compared to a 70s US pressing, but this is symptomatic for all of these new reissues. However, it is a great deal!
- Pressing quality is great, very quiet, flat. The remastering is more compressed than the original, and has had some bite added to it which sometimes helps and sometimes hurts (when Bonham is laying hard into the cymbals) . It's a louder pressing than my US OG pressing, which isn't as loud but has more dynamic range and is warmer sounding.
- Edited 8 months agoDead flat and silent. Haven't heard any other pressing but sounds excellent to me.
