We have here one of the last legacies that this jazz genius left to humanity before he died, a month after these recordings. The box set includes the eight live sessions that he offered with his last trio (Evans, Johnson, Labarbera) at the end of August 1980 at the Keystone Korner in San Francisco. As for the sound, it can be said that it is a remarkable recording, with little background ambient noise and a powerful presence of the piano and bass. Perhaps there is a certain preponderance of the bass over the percussion. The pack contains a total of 8 discs, one per session. As for the content, it is simply wonderful. Bill Evans is touched by the Gods, especially in the spectacular introductions to the Nardis theme, which he repeated several nights. Each one as different as masterful. It is incredible to perceive the freedom of these musicians and their absolute coordination.- Promotional release near Mint set without box, but with booklet.
