I bought this pressing in NM condition and after listening to it, I wondered by I ever bothered buying the MOFI 2x45 rpm in the first place. With the exception of Brothers in arms, I sold all of my Dire Straits MFSL cut from DSD pressings and replaced them with the OG UK pressings.

This is a great album. It’s a departure from the earlier stuff but then again two years on in 1982 Love Over Gold was like nothing else they did. The original pressings are the best. No point in wasting money on modern compressed poor quality pressings.

In my opinion (and from my experience) this is the best sounding original vinyl version of this album ( not taking into account the "audiofile" editions, like latest Mofi).
Deep, smooth and in the same time clear and dynamic sound. Compared for example with this German edition: https://www.discogs.com/release/2792620-Dire-Straits-Making-Movies (not to mention Yugo reissue https://www.discogs.com/release/9162260-Dire-Straits-Making-Movies).
And by the way - I think Dire Straits had no weak albums - and this one is no exception.

Dire Straits its one of my favorite bands, but this album its the weakest of his discography. Still enjoyable, anyway.

Whatever you think of Dire Straits, this is without doubt one of the best sounding records I own.

I have a rather unique south African pressing which has a blue cover and the words Making Movies are on a pink strip in black. Can't find this anywhere on the site.
