Apart from the artistic quality of the recording, which is really splendid, for me the record plays really well. powerful, deep and dynamic. some crops here and there but nothing compromising. the sound stage is remarkable. splendid purchase.- These Living Stereo Recordings are full of audible tube distortions. Some people may think this gives them ambience but it just makes them sound harsh. In reality these recordings are fairly dry. Even if you are sitting in the first row at a live concert you get a lot more reverb, nevermind mid-hall. Compare that to the original source series by Deutsche Grammophon and you understand what I mean. Completely different league! Analogue Productions is not to be blamed. They don't get access to European tapes.
- My copy is full of light pops even after 3 VC cleanings.
The sound has great power - you can feel it in your body. Clarity seems to me a bit limited, but that's probably due to the recording's age. - This is a masterful reissue from Analogue Productions. It sounds absolutely amazing. Very worthy of your time and money.
- Shouldn't matter because this sounds tremendous. But anybody know if it's digital?
- Jaw-dropping good. Really stunning. Even my two-year old is obsessed with it now.
My copy sounds pristine. Not a single pop or click on the entire record. You can tell this was pressed with a tremendous amount of care. Quality, not quantity!
My copy has at least 3 minutes of clicks and pops on side 1 it was sealed so it is a bad Quality Records pressing. I can not see or hear the Quality, on the other hand mastering is excellent.- What a release! It's a Spectacle! Wonderful! The best pressing you can imagine with the most beautiful classical work of The Master Korsakov!
- Reiner was considered an a..hole from those who worked under him but the results he got may have been worth it. His version of Scheherazade leaves all others in the dust. My favorite Classical LP ever. Check out Festival.. also on Living stereo among other fine recordings by this conducter.
