Seller Terms

Important:it costs the same to post two or three 7in singles as it does to send one. And in the UK, it costs the same to post one LP or 12in single as it does to send eight lps or 12ins; or to post 38 7in singles as it does to post six.

MY APPROACH

I am aiming to sell at fair prices and charge reasonable postage, so I do not offer discounts, but about 10% of my stock is open to offers. I give 7 days for people to pay, before I cancel and I will send a reminder after 3-4 days. I am happy to wait up to 90 days by agreement, e.g. if you are waiting for payday, want to put an order together bit by bit or want to keep adding until you reach a certain weight.

GRADING

I am grading visually, so I am not using the Mint categories (unless it is still sealed). VG+ should mean no marks or very light surface marks only; VG should mean a few light scratches; G+ should mean quite a lot of scratches; and G should mean its battered, but should play OK. I sample play anything which looks borderline between grades.

On record sleeves, VG+ is only light wear, almost as new. Most sleeves are VG with wear such as creases, fading or ringwear. G+ will mean crumpling, dirt/stains, a lot of writing or tears. I ignore price labels, but will say if a previous owner has added stickers. I try to add other notes on condition, but I don't always spot writing on the label or the sleeve. I do my best to get the right edition, but it is hard where there are multiple versions with minor differences. If you are really bothered about things like that writing on the label/sleeve or a particular number in the runout groove etc, please get in touch and I will double check. Please ask if you would like me to give something a quick test play. I can also take a photo or use my phone to record a sample if you send me your email address.

UK SINGLE SLEEVES

Up to about 1978, picture sleeves were rare in the UK (except for EPs) and the vast majority of singles were issued in a company sleeve or a plain generic sleeve. That only changed with punk, so by 1982 company sleeves had become rare. My approach is to take the picture on Discogs as my lead, so if no picture sleeve is shown, then I will a) grade the company sleeve b) state it is generic (i.e. either plain white, black or poly-lined tan) or c) state it has a pic sleeve. Please ask me to check if you only want picture sleeve releases. http://www.bigboppa.co.uk/45-sleeves/ is a useful resource.

POSTING

I drop off parcels at the Post Office every day using a drop and go account, which provides proof of posting. I use the PayPal address for posting, so I always check if this is different from the Discogs address.

POSTAGE - UK

I have set up format based automatic postage pricing, as this speeds things up. This does not allow for larger orders of singles. Below is what I aim to charge. If the automatic pricing does not reflect this; or you would like tracked/signed for postage, please get in touch and I will check and adjust the price as necessary.

7in Singles [Signed for prices in square brackets]
1-3 - £1.70 (large letter) [£2.52]
4-5 - £2.10 (large letter) [2.92]
6-38 - £3.40 (small parcel, up to 2kg) [4.00]

Lps or 12ins [Signed for price in square brackets]
1-8 - £3.55 (up to 2kg) [£4.00]

Orders over 2kg
I will send by courier. For mainland UK, 2-5kg is £6.50; 5-10 kg is £8.50; and 10-25kg is £10.50. It is a bit more expensive to N Ireland & Scottish islands.

INTERNATIONAL POSTAGE

I can send up to 2kg in a standard airmail parcel. Airmail seems to take about 10 working days on average. Please ask if you would like me to send it tracked.

For 2-20kg, I can use Parcel2Go.com to get a cheaper rate for Parcelforce Worldwide than is available in a Post Office; or for other couriers who offer a drop off service local to me.

EUROPE, including Turkey
FRANCE – as high value parcels have gone missing, I will only send tracked for orders over £20.
RUSSIA – as parcels have gone missing, I will only send tracked.
