Seller Terms

Automatic Cancellation Policy: Orders will be cancelled if payment is not received within 10 days.
Our standard shipping rate in the United States is $5 for the first LP, EP, or Single (7" or 12") or CD/SACD sent via USPS Media Mail. Two-record sets will count as two records. Unlimited domestic shipping for $6*. *Any exceptions will be noted in ALL CAPS. Local pickup is available in Chicago at the Music Direct warehouse during business hours on weekdays. If you wish to have your order shipped via FedEx or Insured Priority Mail, at higher rates, put that down in the instructions and send us a message and we will provide a shipping quote.

International* shipping starts at $20 for the first LP, EP or 12" single. 7" 45's and CDs start at $15. Foreign orders will receive an exact shipping and handling quote but you should expect at least $5 for for the first additional item or vinyl disc for certain countries. We sell many audiophile pressings so the weight of single album along with our extra-protective packaging makes many single orders over 2 pounds. All international orders will be declared at the full price of the items for customs. *Canadian orders can start as low as $15 for a single standard-weight LP. Australian orders will be charged an additional 10% on both the item and shipping costs due to the new import tax. This will be reflected only in the stated shipping cost (which will include the item surcharge).

Please note that when paying via PayPal your shipping address must be the one you want the package sent to. You can set this up either in advance or when you are making the actual purchase. If it does not match your Discogs' shipping address it may delay your order or necessitate canceling and re-ordering.

All 12" records are packaged outside of the covers but within a standard plastic display bag. An exception to this will be 12" singles in generic sleeves. All full-size records are shipped in new custom-made oversized cardboard boxes to protect corners and ensure safe delivery. Due to the quality, size and weight of our packaging most multiple-LP orders start at over 2 pounds. Sealed records will remain sealed. We clean all open 12" records priced at $10 or above on a VPI Cleaning Machine with Mobile Fidelity cleaning fluids with the exception of audiophile vinyl we know is unplayed and is without blemishes. For testing we use a Pro-Ject Debut III turntable with an Ortofon OM 5E cartridge. Orders are shipped from Music Direct in Chicago usually within three business days of receipt of payment. Most orders paid for before Noon (CST/CDT) ship out the same weekday. We are closed on Sundays and do not ship on Saturday. A USPS tracking will be provided.

Cheques should be made out to Music Direct, not Music Direct Vintage. Buyer pays for shipping and is responsible for paying shipping on any returns.

Some notes about grading. We play and listen to all audiophile pressings with visible problems. NM means we heard no noise but there are visible marks that are potentially audible. VG+ indicates some occasional crackle due to hairline scratches or just a few minor pops or clicks. Anything less that is particularly annoying will be VG or G+. We try to note specific tracks and the nature of the noise in those cases. On much older original records these same basic guidelines but are not quite as high a standard as we hold to the audiophile pressings. Still, any VG or VG+ should be a good listening experience. G+ will be a record that still can be enjoyed in general (i.e., the noise does not interfere too much with the music) or there is a specific song that has something quite bothersome. Any less than those grades you are buying a record just to hear it once or there will be a note about a skip or a similar difficulty that makes it fair or poor.

Jacket grading is again very high on recent pressings. We have many records that are still sealed but we mark as NM or VG+ just due to an impacted/dinged corner or the beginning of a split spine. These should always be noted. On older records we will also try to give you the best idea of ringwear or general shelf wear. We can provide pictures when definitely needed on any high-priced item although "general wear" is difficult to photography accurately. If you need a picture, please send note with your email address.

When download cards are included we cannot guarantee they are still valid.

Thanks for reading this far. We respond to all orders and queries on weekdays and most Saturdays with the exception of holiday weekends.
