Thank you for checking out Mr. Music's Barn! This is basically a one-man operation, run out of my storage 'barn' out in the back forty, where I've stored my collection of thousands of records I've collected over the years. I've always had a love of vinyl records, and have been around them professionally most of my life. I started out in radio back when we used to cue these babies up manually, to owning my own small record store back in the 80s-90s (at that time, Mr. Music's Attic). I tried selling on ebay some years ago, but that became just too much of a hassle and too expensive to justify the time. Here at Discogs I feel much more at home and have decided to seriously start moving the inventory I have out in the Barn. So here goes.
I try to grade as closely to the given standards as I can, and fully understand that perception is objective. That said, I'm pretty conservative about my grading, and hope you won't be disappointed. Frankly, if I have a record that grades worse than VG, I wouldn't even list it, unless it's super rare. I've taken care of my collection over the years, and hope the condition reflects that. I do want to say here that condition is a very tricky thing. I'm of the belief that, unless it's still factory sealed, even a NM- record will have a few pops upon listening. I grade on visual, but I cannot guarantee every record will be pop free, nor can I listen to each record to detect flaws. And I hope real vinyl collectors understand this. The older these records are, the more likely they are to reflect aging. I accept some auditory imperfections, and try to reflect whatever I can detect in the descriptions. Hell, I like the fact that the crackles and pops tell me it's vinyl and not digital. Old school.
I have accumulated these from various sources, of course, and I'm giving a visual assessment in most cases (who has time to listen to hundreds of records at a time?) based on my long years of collecting experience. I try to be fair in all my item descriptions. And yes, I clean every record before shipping. I love a nice clean record, and have used Discwasher for years to keep my vinyl as clean as I can keep it. If you have any questions about any item, please ask before purchasing. I'll do my best to answer any inquiry.
