Mine had the cut in the upper part of the spine. Why? Presumably because they didn’t want naughty journos selling their precious stock. They wanted to make it worthless to third-party buyers. Well. That worked didn’t it? So, see a cut? Promo.

RARE CD VERSION!! RECORD LISTENED TO ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO GAUGE CONDITION. The CD version of this archive collection. I can't find a Discogs entry for the CD version. I thought this may have been a promo but it has a 'CDSH...' catalogue number so, maybe not then. The tracklist of both the CD and vinyl versions are the same, incidentally. The tracks on the rear of this CD pack even lists the tracks separated by Side A/Side B.

This is a promo of the concert package. It consists of a silver disc and a jewel case. No packaging or other paper material is included. On the front of the disc are the words, “DVD Check Disc Cliff Richard The 40th Anniversary Concert" The catalogue number hasn’t changed. That is printed on the left of the spindle. The label, Demon, is printed on the right. The word ‘deluxe’, with a lower-case ‘d’ and registered trademark notice off the edge of the letter ‘e’ is printed below.

The music accompanies a spaghetti western, directed by the great Sergio Corbucci and starring the equally great Joseph Cotton (I recommend his autobiography, incidentally).

Oh and the case is one of those old fashioned large double cases and very nice it is to see it too. You need it to hold the 43-page booklet though which is packed full of information of the creation the soundtrack and the film itself including an interview with Saul Chaplin.

RECORD LISTENED TO ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO GAUGE CONDITION. Part of the whole, Warp-lead, 'intelligent techno’ scene of the 90s in which techno beats were added to - gasp! - melody! In Plaid’s case quite complex melodic loops and layers upon layers to boot. Fascinating stuff, I first got to know the band (well, the pairing) when they appeared as founders of Black Dog. I’ve followed them ever since. One of the preeminent masters in their field, you might say.

Just a bit…over there, when looking at the contemporary Warp roster. And Geir Jenssen would wander even further after this release. For me? During the early to mid 90s, Biosphere was a staple listen. One of my ‘go to’ artists.

Sent to me by the label when DVD-A actually stood a chance of becoming the ‘next big thing’. Fighting, as it was, head to head, with SACD. Which one would win? As it it turned out? Neither did. Downloads won instead. And then, five minutes later, they didn’t either because Streaming dropped on all three of them like Monty Python’s big boot, descending from the sky. This story had more twists and turns than an Agatha Christie whodunnit.
