The Norton version ("In Person!!!") sounds great to me. Dunno if the Norton version is a different master to this version, though; "In Person!!!" is the only one I've heard.

Best anti-American in-love-with America album of all time? Hey, fuck Springsteen! Does anyone know why the three MC5 studio albums never been given the deluxe, remastered reissue treatment like the Stooges and the Velvets stuff? It makes absolutely no ... See full review

This collection of rehearsal/studio stuff from immediately before and after the release of Raw Power is (at least in part) revelatory! First, the negative stuff: a few of the performances are a bit uninspired (a Stooges cover of 'I'm a Man' has no ... See full review

Holy SHIT, this is good! Nocturnal R&B ballads for midnight drift. Sometimes puts me in mind of Chet Baker's vocal ballads - in vibe perhaps more than sound, as yer man Ace is much more blues than Baker.

Wasn't sure about this one when it first came out, but just had a listen again today and it sounds like a classic!

I first heard 'Let's Go Swimming' on the Soul Jazz 'World of Arthur Russell' comp, and that version was represented as the Walter Gibbons mix. The weird thing is that the version on the Soul Jazz comp is the Gulf Stream Dub, which most of the entries on ... See full review

Yup, it was MovieMars who I was talking about. Sorry, Strager. They cancelled my order today, after nearly two weeks of telling me that my order was being processed for dispatch. I smelled a rat when the order didn't dispatch after a couple of days. It's ... See full review

Can't stop listening to this: it's propulsive but really elegaic and atmospheric, and manages to sound totally zonked without relying much on the usual signifiers (reverb, delay, etc). Can't wait for the new 'un!

On this comp of early singles, the Swingers are down-a-diggin' in the Stooges' moron mine goddamn early in the morning. It's A-grade scree all the way, peaking around 'Blow Job' with a hilarious James-Brown-on-the-skids routine backed by some ... See full review

This is great! I's a low-speed collision of Velvets guitar violence, primitive tape collage, 50s rock n' roll, and intergalactic radio broadcast, marshalled nonchalantly into some serious tunes by the outsider pop smarts of one Ziro Baby. Apparently ... See full review

Beautiful folk songs as played in the Black Lodge. Has the sort of choirboy vocals that could, in lesser hands, have been truly disgusting (e.g. Sigur Ros), but happily he has an instinct for pulling back from the brink, and the vocal highs are ... See full review

The music can't be faulted - it's great, raw boogie. Disappointingly, however, on the version I have - CD CHESS 1008 - the track 'Lonely Boy Boogie' in fact only lasts 3.00 and not 3.16, as the CD booklet states. Even more disappointingly, the duration ... See full review
