Gay Zeuhl space musical from Wisconsin - fascinating and strangely entertaining, but I'm not sure if it's any good or not.

There are some good ideas on this album of evolved surf rock, but it's marred by mediocre guitar playing and a lack of compositional substance.

The b-side is the winner here, but the Everly Brothers cover is way better!

To me, this sounds more like mid-70s glam pop, closer to Bay City Rollers/Sailor than Badfinger.
Julie Covington - The Beautiful Changes

Before becoming a darling of the London stage in the 70s and beyond, Julie was an award-winning Shakespearean actress, beginning a singing career by performing the songs of Pete Atkin and Clive James, which make up the bulk of this album. This fine... See full review

A group of friends who made a number of album length recordings starting in the late-60s, three of which were pressed as acetates at Deroy in minute quantities in the mid-70s. Their recordings are pretty basic, with (often) unison vocals accompanied... See full review

The Guy Angier LP 'Guitar & Bananas' was recorded here, and is dated to 1970. There's a modern sounding synth on the LP that appears to be ten years too early for the recording - is the date wrong or was there some custom keyboard at the studio?
Guy Angier - Guitar & Bananas
posted a review of Guy Angier - Guitar & Bananas. 7 months ago
There's a synth on this LP which would put the LP closer to 1980 in recording, so maybe the date on this is a typo.

"The Prisoner" is the same song as "I Try" by Willow Pattern - Willow Pattern, so one could assume that they're the same group. The versions are one and the same.

A4 "I Try"is the same song/version as "The Prisoner" that opens Marie Celeste (3) - And Then Perhaps - so either this is a fake item or they are the same group.

Recorded in Wales and released on Folk Heritage. Once again it's the lady of the group who steals the show (this time, Judy Aucott), and once again, she is under utilized. Her gorgeous vocals on "Arabella's Reef", "Casey's Last Ride" and "Mr. Sax"... See full review

Dr. Z was led by a guy (appropriately) named Keith Keyes and is one of quite a few guitar-less trios to emerge in the prog era. The title of their sole LP is Platonic, the lyrical content leans towards the black, dark aspects of philosophy/religion,... See full review

The album kicks off with a lengthy flute/organ instrumental which isn't better than Iron Butterfly. The rest of the LP is in firm Moody Blues territory, with self-serious vocal delivery and pretentious lyrics, but without the appeal of hi-fi sonics or... See full review

Comparable to early Roy Harper, but certainly not the 'best of' Roy. No, this is pretty formless acoustic blues that sounds like every busker at every tube station in 1970. The average going rate of around £150 is proof that the '99 copies' tag is... See full review
