Japan & related, Ultravox, Depeche Mode, New Order & Roger Taylor completist. Not interested in collecting every single pressing but certainly interested in collecting all tracks & versions of tracks by these artists.

Ditto here but I also found the album quite tedious. Too many stylistic changes and anachronisms left me feeling quite unsatisfied compared to their previous release.

Agree - received yesterday as a long awaited item on my wish list. Flawless sound and a quality package all round.

Side two has some of the most shocking levels of crackle I've heard on a new record in a long, long time. Is this common across other copies?

Well they are all on the Extended set from 2017 and are nicely mastered - regardless of what you think about the Blank & Jones CDs

Ditto - the sounds a little compressed toward the end of each side but otherwise it's very good. Bought my excellent condition copy for £25 and then the next week the 2020 reissue is announced!

When ordering records you don't order the exact amount that you think you need. Instead you end up ordering to pricing break points (i.e. points at which the pricing changes). For example, I'm getting some CDs pressed as we speak and it is cheaper to ... See full review

That's interesting because mine doesn't have the ripples but gets a wah wah from the non-centred spindle.

Well that will only tell you that it was a group of discs which - based on the reviews so far - seems to be true. This is a pressing issue meaning that it is largely human error at work here: too little plastic pellets used, plates too hot, discs ... See full review

Bloody awful: noise, distortion, clicks & pops, warped & spindle hole off centre. Avoid and/or ask for money back.

Personally I'm of the mindset that the original mix has been mastered a little flat in this release, possibly to make the new mix sound a bit sparkier. But overall not loving the new versions after a couple of listens.

Doubt it: typically Miles S works from digital files for ½ speed masters I believe.

Hi. They aren't brickwalled but have do have a lower dynamic range than the earlier releases.

A shocking pressing. Both discs have pops & clicks with side 2 being largely unlistenable. Another case of style over substance and I fall for it every time....

Mikee-R: Why don't you list it and see if anyone offers? If there are really only two copies out there then there are only going to be two people that would add it to Discogs....

If you think the Naked Eyes remaster sounds good then you're probably mistaken. It's a completely brickwalled master.

Not BMG that did the RSD issue: Universal re-released it on the Virgin imprint.

This edition is clearly mastered at 44.1khz according to a frequency review and so is likely to have used an existing 16 bit/44.1khz CD master which is disappointing: the record cannot sound any better than whatever CD is has been mastered from.

Sorry - I must be mistaken and Universal (who own EMI which includes Virgin & also Heavenly Records) must be doing it purely because they are lovely guys with no desire to make a buck.

How very silly of me.

Err, every single one of them is a 'marketing gimmick'! Even those 'first time on vinyl since.....' reissues that you mention.

None of these releases are 'remastered' - Mute confirm if you check the other box entries if confirmation is required.

How can 100 copies really be called a 'Test Pressing'? Test pressings, as we know, are limited to a few copies to test the stampers. This is surely a general white label release that is limited to 100 copies, isn't it?

Enjoying the mixes but quite a lot of ingrained dirt & fluff in the record which a cursory clean doesn't get rid of. Accordingly have jumps in a number of places and a well fluffed up stylus.

Great design and packaging but despite cleaning in my Okki Nokki there are still too many clicks as the shiny fragments in the vinyl breach the surface.

I really don't understand why it is so hard to get this album sounding 'right' on vinyl. Whilst this pressing is better than the recent Repertoire releases, it is still lacking: it's noisy, the percussion lacks emphasis and it is muddled. The first ... See full review
