my sweet lord, what a glorious band.

absolutely top gear across the board. what a magnificent sound they made.

i hope now that they've put out a new single that this means more new material is on the way; or at least a reissue campaign.

holy hell my dude. these are invaluable. the on track mixes were such a staple of my late teens and early 20s. i made some educated guesses and found a few of the records for myself, but a lot of them remained a huge question mark. with this and the ... See full review

as this is bill's last studio recording, it's an absolutely brilliant end to a fascinating career. he stepped away from the trio format for this one, as he often did for his studio recordings in the 70s. and it pays off well. larry schneider is back ... See full review

a very unique album for bill. larry schneider helping out on sax and flute and toots thielemans lending a very empathetic voice with his distinct harmonica. tune selection is ace, as well, being highlighted by an absolutely stunning 'blue in green.' ... See full review

possibly the definitive bill evans album. most of his best originals played in extended jam format and he really streteches out on the fender rhodes. not neccessarily his overall best record, but i'd highly recommend it for new fans. the expanded cd ... See full review

100% worth it for the original 'remembering the rain', which only officially appears on this album. he played it a few times live, recordings of which have been put out on some semi-official releases, but this is the one. rest of the album is good, but ... See full review

brilliant studio work from the trio here. ace song selection, as well. the reading of 'seascape' is one of bill's most immediately pretty recordings he ever did — and that's quite a feat. also, herbie's 'dolphin dance'! awesome to hear the instructor ... See full review

bill steps away from his working trio at the time and joins forces with kenny burrell and the most underrated GOAT harold land and they just cook up some serious business. the reading of 'a child is born' included here is perfection. this is the album ... See full review

surely one of bill's best. kicks off with an arguably definitive version of steve swallow's 'eiderdown' and then goes on to include 'when i fall in love'; a reading that keith jarrett still follows very closely to this day. the addition of marsh and ... See full review

man, this album kicks so much ass. the 'walk tall' on here is probably the definitive version. joe zawinul is at his funkiest playing ever, walter booker absolutely cooking, and david axelrod about making sure everything is pristine. the deep grooves ... See full review

i was working at tower records when this reissue series came out and i was always under the impression that this album was not ever officially released, i.e. it never got past the test press / dub plate stage and the 2002 "reissue" was actually the first ... See full review

ay, anybody ever seen one of the medallions that was advertised for sale on the insert?

also, this is a pretty decent album. . . not a lot of cannonball actually on it though.

proof that this band is at their best when not strictly sticking to "standards." this is absolutely exploratory and fascinating group improvisation. arguably their best recording.

lol this album was trash all around; music to pressing quality. literally sounded like a well used twenty year old copy upon first play. a couple okay songs, but hoo boy.

might be worth it if it's like twenty bucks; even if just to hear the mostly great "bonus" tracks. the mastering is so harsh and digitally-inclined that it sounds absolute rubbish on vinyl. can't believe these prices smh

guys, just buy this version if you want 'coming up':

or just get join the dots i guess idk.

there is nothing special about this vinyl pressing. it sounds just like the cd.

these prices are just stupid, it's not even like it sounds better on vinyl and there's no extra tracks. just buy a used cd for a buck and contemplate what could have been.

like all colored vinyl, this is totally inferior to even the shoddiest black vinyl pressing. extra songs are good, though not better than anything on the proper 11 track release. album's pure heat; jb's best thus far.
