Is it just me, or is the sound actually not good on this reissue? I think it's very uncommon for MOV to make a less than stellar reissue, but this one sounds pretty thin imo.

I really really wanted this to sound good because I know Analogue Productions is the best around. However, I get distortion all over the place on my copy and it doesn't sound warm at all. Here's a little audio clip of one of the most troublesome... See full review

On the other hand, apparently he supervised this reissue, so how would that be possible?

Is it just me or are there a few EQ issues going on with this mastering? It's too bad if there is because I'm not quite ready to fork out the money for an original. The B side sounds pretty good though, so it's just the A side I'm talking about.

Well obviously 3000 dollars is too much to pay for an album (in my humble common sense opinion), so you should grab a reissue. The music on here is great and it is definitely worth having this in your vinyl collection. The orchestrations and horn... See full review

How about just buying the album for a few dollars lol

Funniest thing I've heard all day. Their pressings are always rushed, I'm pretty sure they use a CD source, and sometimes they don't even spell the track names correctly (although they did here it seems).

Haven't tested it yet, but the world's worst inner sleeve strikes again. The exact same inner as my other copy. Hopefully the sound makes up for it.

I have no doubts about that! Still want a copy of this one.

How is this pressing? I'm looking for the most audiophile recording possible.

Worst inner sleeve of all time. Be sure to replace it with a much better one. Otherwise this isn't a bad reissue IMHO.

How is this reissue from the master tapes possible if the masters were supposedly burned in the Universal Studios fire of 2008?

I did (also got a DJ turntable) and I don't think the distortion is there anymore, but I'll have to double check. It really does make a difference. I wrote that when I had a Jensen JTA-230.

Just out of curiosity, why is this blocked from the marketplace?

It is interesting to note that the composition "Love Bowl" sounds curiously like "Love Bones" by Tyrone Davis. I wonder if there's a songwriting credit due there.

Are you sure the matrix is correct? I have the EXACT same matrix with a blue Fantasy label.

My matrix appears to be etched into the grooves in part. Does anyone else notice this on their copy?

Can it be that I have the stereo, grey label with the saxophone player rather than the colored circles at the top, but the same exact matrix/runout?

It sounds okay to my ears, but keep in mind that some people hear some of these Fat Possum reissues a bit differently and do not like the sound. A second opinion would probably do some good.

This label doesn't even care enough to spell the names of the songs correctly, let alone get the audio sounding good. AVOID!!

These guys don't even care enough to get the track names right! From what I see on the labels, they put the track name as "Yellow Waltz" instead of "Yellow Walls". Big fail.

I just listened to this, and it's not bad, but why do people want this record so bad? Is there some kind of backstory to it, or do people just think it's that good?

Hey Alberto,

Just made the investment and I'm listening to side G right now and so far it sounds excellent; in fact more so than some of the other sides. Maybe it varies from copy to copy but mine sounds just fine. Sometimes cheap turntables give you... See full review
