Andy Stott back at the top of his game! Viscous, heavy drums that seem to scatter then form together, complemented by gritty bass lines... but there are also some straight-up bangers on here. Versi may be one of the most beautiful tracks of the year.... See full review

Smoky, neo-jazzy, pseudo-hip-hoppy stoner Chicago house. If that sounds good to you, don't hesitate.

A colossal journey through techno's heyday - but also highly forward-thinking. As one would expect from the master behind Death in Vegas, who's "dabbled" in every genre since the 1990's.
From "Vision of You"'s introductory chilly ambience, through... See full review

Nought to Gain may just be THE banger of 2019. The last 2 minutes of that song will make your chest explode. Be sure to listen at top volume. This is what The Prodigy should be doing.

Note: this is a compilation of Rolando's work, rather than a full-fledged album. That said, it's an absolutely worthy addition to your collection, flowing as smoothly as an album, from AFX-like IDM to "Moroder-playing Atari" disco-house - all the... See full review

It's quite miraculous that an album whose cover conveys such serenity, and whose message is that of achieving peace of mind, includes so many hard bangers. Moving from old-skool house ("Move Your Body") to ethereal jungle/drum'n'bass ("Ecstatic Beat")... See full review

A brilliant prelude to her "Resonant Album" album. Emotive and gorgeously layered breakbeat / house that lovingly harks back to 1990's.

Fantastic release! Smooth textures, minimal techno breaks and silky ambient vibes. Quarion strays away a little from his disco-house roots into more abstract, tech-house/ambient territory, with glorious results. Best listened to as a whole, to truly... See full review

Excellent release of much sought-after and rare VC tapes. Gets progressively more melodic as it traces VC's foray from abrasive, ambient drone to more soulful, militaristic, industrial techno. Not for everyone, but connoisseurs will rejoice.

Truly amazing how great that still sounds today. Only a handful of tracks truly show their age. TCM were way ahead of their time in 1991, and this rerelease sounds fantastic. Amorphous ambient meets techno with a dash of breakbeats.

Strong early contender for best electronic album of 2019. In the wake of a tragedy, the artist turned himself inside out for this record, producing a melancholy, but ultimately uplifting, absolutely gorgeous piece of music. It flows together... See full review

Absolutely brilliant. Way ahead of its time, a symphonic, housy/polyrhythmic exercise in interstellar techno/IDM. A gorgeous collection, crisp pressings - don't think twice.

Great album! But...
Let's be honest - it's a terrible pressing. I've been eagerly awaiting this release and shelled out for the orange vinyl - just to have side A skip on me (admittedly, after increasing the needle weight, it stopped), B1 skip and B2... See full review

At 65, Fehlmann brings it harder, more succintly and efficiently than 98% of young techno DJs out there. Just listen to all the layers of each track, how they unravel, the precision of his sound and the confidence with which each lengthy tune morphs... See full review

A change of pace? Sure, but what SMD album hasn't been? It's arguably a more mature sound, very ambitious, the addition of the choir producing some spectacular results (the dark "Hey Sister" and the buoyant "V Formation" being the two opposing... See full review

His best album yet. Such a variety of styles - and yet the signature "Koze" sound is present, a thread that connects the entire lengthy album (which, by the way, never overstays its welcome). Focused, melodic, fragile as a butterfly and timeless.

A pinch more accessible than Vol. 1, Atnif's Rhythmic Brutalism Vol. 2 is more of a streamlined affair, an excursion into Actress-like techno, with a healthy dose of early-OPN stabs of noise and drone (see also: Vatican Shadow). It's dark and... See full review
