I was shocked to discover that the clear vinyl features only mono mixes. Of course, they are fold-downs on the stereo mixes that got released on CD.
The best tunes on this album deserve better sonic mastering, full stop.

My LP sounds great. Fantastic soundstage, warm analog tubee. guitar amps throughout.

Yes. Tony Visconti has essays on each album, and they are quite informative.

No. That would have seriously compromised the sound quality & volume, unfortunately. This record mastering sounds fabulous, by the way.

This remaster is really great--lots of extra detail compared with my original 1977 US RCA pressing.

This is the best sounding version ever, really full, rich highs, mids and bass. Easily as good as Mobile Fidelity.

This is a really nice live document of the original Dire Straits line-up. It is well recorded and catches them playing on a very good night. Sometimes the crowd noise pops up in odd places, which makes it sound dubbed in, but it's difficult to say for... See full review

If you liked Wire's Read & Burn EPs 1 and 2, but don't enjoy the brutal brickwall-compressed mastering of the CDs, then this release is essential, as it is the only way to get these mostly excellent songs in a halfway listenable form. However, be... See full review

I can strongly recommend this LP - the new remaster is like watching HD TV for the first time, lots of nice percussion details are revealed, you really feel the acoustic guitar arpeggios, and the lead vocals have new clarity. Plus, on the DVD, for the... See full review

Mastered at relatively low volume due to long length of album, but has a really nice, smooth crankable mastering, unlike the standard-issue 1998 CD, which is harsh and brickwalled. Good, quiet pressing, vinyl is really orange with yellow streaks.... See full review

This pressing sounds really great, as good as my original UK pressings of Scott 1 and Scott 2.

Much fuller sounding than the old IRS US LP. Really nice, fat bass and drums.

Every song is a gem - funny lyrics, great arrangements. Rockpile at their best! Despite having to include the 2 'bonus' tracks, Vic Anesini did a nice job mastering the vinyl.

Yes, the same 4 tunes are on both sides of the cassette release.
