Retired Raver, DJ, Classic vinyl collector

Electronic music lover since 1989. Got infected by Double Trouble & The Rebel MC, Technotronic and other Hiphouse music at the time. Mainly from the Turn up the Bass CD's which started their series in 1989. Later influences were the harder Belgian and Dutch sound starting in 1990/1991. I remember myself in 1991 as a 12 year old kid getting a mixtape from a friend's older brother. It was a hard sound similar to the sound which I heard on the Turn up the Bass Houseparty 1 CD I just bought with my last saved pocketmoney. From that moment on I was infected by housemusic, I knew this was the music I wanted to listen to all day long. The energy of this sound was so overwhelming. Untill today, that Houseparty 1 CD has been the best purchase I've ever done in my entire life......... ;-)

Somewhere in 1994 I bought my first cheap turntables, a mixer and our first hardcore gabber records together with some friends. We were totally addicted to the gabber sound and started getting more and more mixtapes in the circuit from friends with mixes from heroes like Gizmo, Darkraver, Dano and Buzz Fuzz. We went to our first Rave in late '94 and it fed our addiction more and more as we wanted to learn to mix the records like our heroes did. A new addiction was born: The Art of Mixing.

These days I don't go to Hardcore Raves anymore, I quit with those in 1997 when the scene was becoming totally fucked up. I started playing new styles like Hardtrance, Hardhouse, Techno and Club. It widened my horizon and after sending many demotapes to clubs and radiostations more and more DJ gigs became reality. After several (guest)residencies in afterclub Latido (Zaandam), Club Alcazar (near Rotterdam), SystemFM (Alkmaar), AirpeaceFM (Almere), ID&T radio Royal Clubmix (Amsterdam) and Club The Cult (Lelystad) in the late 90's and beginning of the 2000 era, I became a resident in the just opened Club P60 in my hometown Amstelveen in 2001. First with the monthly ForeCast clubnight with progressive and tech-house sounds, later in 2002 we started the Heroes of Techno parties which are still successful untill today.

I've always loved different kinds of electronic music and still collect and play a wide variety of styles today. I usually play tech-house and techno, from deep stuff to pumping uplifting sounds. I also love to play houseclassix and early rave. I collect lots of different music on vinyl, still the holy medium for me, and I think when a certain record fits well in a set, the audience digs it and the timing is correct, I play it. No matter if it's old or new or club or acid or breakbeat, I play it. That's my style, I think that is what DJ-ing is about. I love to build it up from scratch, take the people on a journey and warm up crowds to a climax.

This is exactly what I have been doing as a former resident for 5 years (from 2001 - 2006) at the bi-monthly Heroes Of Techno party's in P60 (www.P60.nl), Amstelveen. We have had techno heroes like Rino Cerrone, Umek, Valentino Kanzyani, Ben Sims, Monika Kruse, Alexander Kowalski, Danilo Vigorito, Secret Cinema, Miss Djax, Marco Bailey, Cristian Varela, Gayle San, Joris Voorn, Hardcell & Grindvik and many many more.

Nowadays I play only gigs on certain nice party's from friends or in small clubs with a cool vibe where I can keep playing my eclectic style. No more residencies and commercial stuff.........just underground for the love of the music..

About my Discogs collection........My Discogs collection is not for sale. Maybe a swap could be possible, you can try, but mostly a No will be the answer as my collection consists of records I don't want to sell..

I would like to bring out my thx and respect to Discogs and the users, they deserve big respect for building this fantastic website! Due to the existance of Discogs I have found records (again) I once sold and new styles and vinyl I would never have discovered, without a doubt.

PEACE in this lovely ugly brutal world.

Pitched up though. Never really noticed it in We Can Do This actually but it's a great acid line for sure

It's a real pity this great album came out in the years that 'Digital and/or CD only' had became kind of the norm for a few years. Happily there has been a significant rise in the production of vinyl again since, especially for albums like this but I ... See full review

Does there still exist a Dark brown coloured pressing or was that not true? I recall that this was mentioned in the comments above in the release info but it seems to have been removed? I think there even were pictures of it here. Or am I confused? ;)
