I am foremost a salsa vinyl DJ than I am a collector. I have been passionately spinning salsa music since 2005. I started out using CDs, then onto MP3s but then I felt something amiss with the digital format. I found the reason why with my first purchase of a vinyl record. Everything else is history.

I have spun at various salsa congresses, festivals, and social events in Montreal, Toronto, Quebec City, Guelph, Gatineau and Ottawa. I am a regular DJ and the founder of Ottawa's Salsaria (http://www.salsaria.ca), a not-for-profit salsa interest group for "dancers, by dancers" that holds regular salsa socials.

I thrive on accuracy and quality when entering new release into Discogs by ensuring every bit of info available is entered and by attaching corresponding hi-res images of front, back and label. I encourage everyone to do the same. Overtime, I have developed this efficient system to catalogue my records in Discog. First, I buy records from record stores, eBay as well as from the Marketplace on Discogs. Once I received the record, I give it a thorough wash using my VPI MW-1 Cyclone record cleaner. I then give it a new inner and outer sleeves. I give feedback on the purchase by examining the record and reviewing the description of the listing. Once that is done, I take the pictures of the front, back and disc label of the release. I then enter the data into Discogs. When I am done, I sit back and listen to the record and begin to give a rating that often accompany by a brief review. My rating is based on danceability factor, being that I am a salsa DJ. No new records I acquired get to stack on my shelves without going through this process.

I shelf my collection by artist name and in the order as presented on Discogs for ease of tracking. I classify sub-genres by assigning them to customized folders for ease of selecting and picking when I prepare for a gig.

I got Voting privilege on 05 May 2014 and will use this ability to vote other people's releases.

Great album and love the rendition of these classic tracks. Louie Ramirez at his creative best again! Recommended and should have in every DJ's crate - just to give a different flavour of these classic tunes.

This is a wicked album and I am glad to have scooped this up from a friend's collection. This album contains hard hitting tracks and are pretty much dance floor fillers; especially, with the soul and heart guaguancos, El Actor y La Historia de Un Son. ... See full review

This album is a 4-star at most for me. Even though it has a few great chachacha tracks and a wicked descarga, La Runidera, and guaguanco, Que Dischoso Es, there are a few merengue tracks and boleros that took over the flow of the album. Not a bad album ... See full review

Just an average album. There are no real hard hitting tracks on this album and to be frank, I am a bit disappointed. I don't recommend paying more than $150 for this album.

"Graffiti Record Nationally Distributed by Coco Records" implies a Graffiti record label. Despite only 3 danceable tracks in the entire album, I still rate this a 4-star. Two salsa tracks and a chachacha in son montuno will make everyone dance. It's a great album to add to your collection.

There is only one salsa track in this heavy cumbia album. The track Nieblas is decent enough to get people dancing. In fact, I find it's great song and I would not hesitate to play it at a gig. Don't spend more than $19 on this.

This album contains classic Cuban gems from mambo, to bolero. There are a few danceable mambo and charanga tracks in this album. It earns a 4-star from me as a result. Glad to have this in the mix.
