Guidelines

There is no guideline that says colour should come first in FTF, only an example at RSG §6.1.7 of what to do in a case where there are 3 different variants of the same release. Indeed, reading the Guideline as a whole (thereby placing the example in its intended context, rather than in isolation), what it is trying to avoid is having the same first word in the FTF of variants of a release, regardless of what that word is. In the case of the example, it’s so that the short form of the FTF is not "Mot" for all 3 variants, because their colour is what distinguishes them from one another.
Staff confirmation that, where there are two releases that are the same colour, they can be entered as 'Transparent (colour)' and 'Opaque (colour)'.

"Fancy" names for coloured vinyl should be 'Basic, objective colour [Marketing / Hype name for colour]'

It's interesting - I have the DOL (yes...I know. I know...) Blue Collection one. Pressed by GZ Media, as opposed to this Optimal pressing, but the same issue - mostly on A1, then the rest is perfect.
I had the same issue with the... See full review

I defer to your superior knowledge, of course, but I always thought it was (and believe it was intended to evoke, for obvious reasons) the TNG theme. Admittedly, that's very similar to the First Contact theme (or at least the first 90 seconds... See full review

I actually find the music on this collection to be rather wonderful - some great playing, and still unmistakeable Miles.
But I'm not a jazz snob, so what do I know?

It's also a dead quiet pressing; no problems with the white vinyl here.

It sounds like you've been sent the recycled version instead of the clear one. They've come out lots of different colours - mine is grey splatter; I've seen blue ones and green ones (but I've yet to see a 'vomit' one :-) )

Very oddly compiled. I wonder what the justification is for only 8 minutes of music on Side C, when the 60 minutes or so of the album could easily be more evenly spread over the 4 sides, whilst maintaining the same running order.

Yep; I'd definitely add that as a variant. I'm told (by another Oz resident) that the European versions are often distributed in Australia as well. Not sure if this means we should add Australia to Country (but maybe not, according to... See full review

A 'real' Sisters fan should buy two copies of the same LP just because one of them has a 'Made In Germany' sticker on the back and the other one doesn't? Why would not wanting to waste your mone mean that your not a 'real' fan of anyone. What a truly... See full review

Presumably, they eventually sorted the issue (or I was just unlucky and got a Friday afternoon pressing) - the imperfections in my vinyl are clearly visible; it's quite 'bumpy' (which causes a 'rumbling' background).

No, not played mine yet; I actually bought it for my daughter, so she gets first play. I'll let you know what her verdict is. They've gone straight into poly inner sleeves, though.
