This was a mistake by the Capricorn Records art department. A note of interest. I had mastered a few Elton John records with producer/engineer Ken Scott while at Decca/MCA/Uni. Ken was very interested in what was going on in the audiophile marketplace ... See full review

This was a reissue but pressed from the original metal work. △14848 & △14848-X delta numbering would put this metal by Alco in the early 70's.

The original 1972 disc which I mastered at DCT in 1972 does not have a barcode on the jacket. Not noted in this listing is that Barret Hansen (Doctor Demento) supervised the mastering of this and several other Specialty releases in this time period.

Hello Sanman, I was the mastering engineer at Decca (USA) for the original releases of this recording. The textured gate-fold was released first then the marketing department created the box set release a few months later.

This record is among the few CD-4 that truly works in stereo. In large part because I worked closely with Gene Paul to create a very compatible mix for the type of sum and difference matrix technology used in CD-4 stereo compatibility. It along with ... See full review

The disc image with this listing is very representative of the first pressings which favored the beige-pink tints. As CBS Santa Maria refined the splatter color process the effect yielded more flowing blacks and greys creating much greater contrast. This ... See full review
