This a sick little release, shame it's not on vinyl

This is without a doubt, my album of the year. It's a lovely package too in terms of the artwork, beautiful foldout insert and centre label. It sounds utterly fantastic too. Very pleased to have picked mine up from their London show this week, which... See full review

Shit Present - What Still Gets Me

The most well-rounded and high quality Shit Present record so far! Much as I love the EPs (and I do), it's great to see them stretch their wings beyond the thrashy indie-punk they are best known for into something more ambitious and musical while... See full review

This really is an incredible record, an awesome mix of dark 93-style hardcore and jungle with tons of moody synth, almost Belgian stabs and ominous samples. Parallax is on a proper tear and I think this is their best for a little while. It's hard to... See full review

I keep forgetting this is cut at 45rpm (usually this series is at 33) and think, damn, this is way more chunky and downtempo that usual for Mr Reaper. I'm an idiot. It's not bad at the wrong speed but it's positively ripper at 45.

Definitely happening according to the 8205 Recordings email of March 6. Pressing plant delays mucking things up. May 2023 was the original date but this is looking unlikely. Sometime this summer seems the best guess. At least it's confirmed!
Orca - 4am

I'm really digging this as a new package of a timeless tune. It's pretty special to also have two previously unreleased remixes from 1993 plus one of the original remixes, all on one record. I'm never going to shell out silly prices for an original... See full review

I buy everything on Future Retro on sight and don't listen until I get the vinyl. So while it may yet grow on me, this release feels less jungly and more drum n' bass-y than anything else in the series so far and there weren't any "oh shit!" moments... See full review

I picked up my copy at the London show last night. It plays perfectly for me. No problems at all. Gorgeous album and I love the full colour fold out insert with lyrics.

Does anyone have details of the dates each track was made? I'm guessing Lost 9 (a very fun track) and Lost 10 were from 92 for example. This is a fantastic release by the way, a real feast! My cover arrived with a seam that had come unglued/hadn't... See full review

I keep coming back to this series, it's just incredible and I'd love for DMC to do more in this vein again. Open Your Eyes just gives me chills, that vocal sample followed by that spooky opening pad sound is simply perfection.

Could well be a way for them to keep working together now that J Majik has stepped away from working on the label side.

I deeply regret not buying this on release as it's proper pricey now already. The A/B plate is just sublime, both outstanding tunes. Super atmospheric yet with a pair of big old bollocks on the pair of them.

I was just thinking to myself is Subjects an alias of Lee Harmony. What makes you think it's J Majik too, aside from their shared history ofc? I mean it's an educated guess but i wondered if there was any other reasons, musically perhaps?

I'm almost certain that the whistling sample in Paravoid is from the start of a track called Urðr by Swiss black/death metal monsters Bølzer, which is extremely fucking cool if true.

I’m loving Lee’s resurgence (pun intended) as a producer as well as label head. Resurgence is a sick album and I’m absolutely loving Up In Smoke, definitely a candidate for the jungle record of the year IMO. What a second wind he’s having!

For me it's all about the A side. Right up my alley with chest-rattling sub bass, a ravey synth line and the reggae vocal samples. I am not super fond of the flip. It's a bit... big-beat? I don't know man but that late 90s drum pattern and the maximal... See full review

Really enjoying this release. It's on the more melodic and rare-groovy side but there's a deceptive tuffness to the tunes in the as-always perfectly-chopped drums and little sci-fi noises that satisfy my darker side. That Side is 45rpm by the way (it... See full review

Picked this up directly from Rave Radio after it sold out on Kniteforce but got hooked by the sound clips for Up Your Bass, which is a fizzing, squelchy, hoover-y four-to-the-floor stomper that harks back to messy Belgian-infused hardcore. It's a lot... See full review
