Various - New Queens Of Fado as reviewed by EC72

Great compilation of the most trendy Fado singers of the moment. Well balanced album with good variety of different singers. If you like Fado this album will sure meet your expectations. The quality of recording is very good and clear. The cover is very simple and no fluff in the sleeve either. This is the low side of this release. The record is great nonetheless.

This album live was made while Scorpions was at the top. It is an album to own even if you are not a fan. The ambiance is surreal and the recording was made in such a way that you feel like you were there... I have rarely heard other live albums that gave that impression so well, with the exception of Delicate Sound of Thunder from Pink Floyd... In this case it was always the breaker between Delicate Sound of Thunder and Pulse (a mere imitation that never equaled it despite being release years after when technology was more advanced). World Wide Live made it to number 17 on the Billboard in 1985. By 1986, in less than a year, it was platinum in the USA. This is real precious stuff…

Gordon Lightfoot - Gord's Gold as reviewed by EC72

October 23, 2013
This album LP is the best compilation available of Gordon Lightfoot songs. If there could be such a thing as a Canadian equivalent to Johnny Cash, Gordon Lightfoot would be the only one who could really compete.

Georges Moustaki - Le Meteque as reviewed by EC72

With the death of this French music icon it is a delight to rediscover his music through this album which contains most of the songs which made him one of the main influence on a generation of singer in the 60s and 70s. It has some slight Mediterranean sound to it which was one of his trademark since he was from a Greek family but sang his songs in French... Great soft poetry in the spirit of freedom of the 60s.
