The Rumour - Frogs Sprouts Clogs And Krauts

Should have done your research. The Rumour were Graham Parker’s backing group for years. You probably wont like his stuff either. But thanks for coming in here and showing us all how dumb you are.

It’s just that Dutch vinyl was markedly inferior to UK equivalents. Bit like their cigarettes ;)
The Cure - Boys Don't Cry

Totally agree. In the same way the The Smiths ‘Hatful of Hollow’ is listed as a compilation. This is a mash up of songs from their first album with singles/B-sides added.
The Cure - Disintegration

It sounds exactly the same as the in-store record we got at the time and which now resides in my collection alongside this version. I suspect the US releases were all recorded this way.

Update…….Seems as though pressings issues are attributable to the repress. My first pressing (1-) is immaculate, however my friends repress is anything but.

This I believe will be considered a cult classic in years to come. Hedvig’s genius as both musician and composer has been exposed on this slab of vinyl.

Hard to find when first released (thank Jah for good reggae shops in Leicester). This record is the soundtrack of Thatcher Britain.
Jah Shaka - Jah Dub Creator (Commandments Of Dub Part 5)

Killer heavy dub. By the time of this release Shaka had really honed his sound with razor sharp players and sweet sound production.

Yeah, my maroon edition is flawless. Great sonics too. Love this truly avant-garde uk jazz collective’s interpretation overseen by Miles’ family.

Maybe I got lucky because my copy is fabulous. Not a trace of unwanted noise and gorgeous sonics. (Parasound Halo, Rega 8, MC cart)
Dorothy Ashby - Afro-Harping

Currently in stock at Amazon.uk for around €25. And the best $25 I’ve spent recently. I don’t know quite how they’ve done it, but this is significantly better sounding than the 2006 version which I have now traded in. It’s a dead quiet pressing, flat... See full review

The Japanese pressing is the ultimate. Miles better than the US. There is also the bonus poster - big, beautiful, monochrome.

Brandee Younger - Brand New Life

Impulse! You gotta do better. Maybe you are more concerned with the bottom line than giving your artistes the best presentation possible. The mix is is quite bass heavy and there are times where it overpowers Younger’s harp. As to the quality of the... See full review

Stunningly good sound. It’s not often I have to turn down the amp’s volume, but this one is so loud, open and highly detailed. Every breath, pluck and rattle is faithfully reproduced. Did I mention the bass? As good as it gets.

Bought this in London. It’s a beauty. Caught Shabaka’s show at the Globe theatre annex a couple of weeks ago. 15 flutes and two harpists. Magical night. Two days later it was the other end of the spectrum with Comet is Coming. This man is a modern genius.

This is a top quality pressing from this era. I am listening to it now on the sad announcement of the passing of Ryuichi San. I believe the records were pressed using the original plates from Japan.

My album of the year so far. Blending rootsy Nyabinghi and Afrofuturist jazz. Excellent pressing and production. Btw, at 40 minutes running time this is most definitely an LP. Not sure why it’s listed as a 12”.

You are wide of the mark. The original recording of MV was flawed and this has been well documented. For all his genius RVG made a mess of this one, particularly HH’s piano, which sounds dull and lifeless on early pressings. So full marks to Kevin... See full review

Reality check: this one is waaay better than the previous Polydor re-whatever (now thankfully dispatched to the pre-loved section of my local wax supplier). Is it audiophile? Unlikely. Does it sound good? You bet it does.
