This one could really work as an album on CD, so nice and soft

This is my favorite grad_u record (I am surprised as this is a compilation of tracks made through the years). Very diverse, but all very high quality. Hope Greyscale puts it on 2CD some day
Valance Drakes & Ivan Shopov - Unearthing Buried Chapters

Glitch music that is so soulful it melts in the air. Everything Valance Drakes does these years is pure gold, this collab with Ivan not an exception. Easy to miss this record as it was out on an obscure Bulgarian label. I find most of... See full review
Submersion - Infused

IMHO, the best _solo_ Submersion since the era of Finality/Abrade/Deluge. (Not to be missed is the last year's collab with Mon0 - also excellent stuff!)

The care taken in constructing those muffled beats is amazing, something to appreciate. While... See full review

These pieces have little progression about them, and seem unfinished. This is a musical equivalent of a box of Kleenex tissues: simple, soft, square, absorbs moisture.

posted a review of Troum | Closing The Eternity With Ad Lux Tenebrae - Dilo / Осенние Огни, Холодный Тлен. over 7 years ago
This is almost surprisingly good. Dilo in particular is perhaps the strongest track from Troum in many years, done in their recognizable style: oblong drone blob drenched in a somewhat sentimental darkness. The b-side is a tad less persuasive to this... See full review

Glad to see Nicolas returning to what he does best, dark and crunchy tribal... say, industrial downtempo. But this album is hardly a step forward I was hoping he would make, it is instead more like a refinement of the ideas and themes already... See full review

Certainly a high quality stuff here, very well produced, etc. , just what one would expect from this veteran of the scene. But I just can't get rid of the feeling of some unnecessary pretense in these jazzy pieces, as if something big and important is... See full review

This EP is a little diamond of dub music! Three pieces, each with a soft yet assertive character. Listen to them on a decent system and hear them unfold gorgeously.

This would have been a 5-star fifteen years ago, a 4-star five years ago, in the year 2013 this is a 3. Totally derivative and unnecessary work.

This is a very mature piece of inspired bass-glitch tinkering that could reward an attentive listener, but I can't help but think that the entirety of it is contained in the several last Autechre's albums.

Oh, my... The complete version of this album is 3 hours and 40 minutes. Having finished listening to this opus I am now wondering why it was not 8 hours, or 40 minutes, or any other duration. The optimal length for something like this is really 10... See full review

This album is one mesmerizing excursion in ambient glitch! While it certainly has similarities to Secede etc., to me this is more reminiscent of many albums on the Databloem label, such as the ones by Sgnl_fltr. Both this and Per Sonare album are true... See full review

This is some fine dark ambient, but I kept thinking that something is lacking here... After several listens I think I can say what it is: the textures that Coph'antae deploys on each track are so rich and so full of character that they don't easily... See full review

First things first, this release has one of the most impressive and well thought out packaging I have encountered over the ~20 years that I collect music. There are some images of it uploaded to Discogs where you can see it, but the actual physical... See full review

Magnificent ambient IDM with some crackles and clicks. Won't call this work groundbreaking, but nevertheless it is very mature and is neither too sugary/sentimental sweet, nor imposingly "cosmic". Very soft and humane album, with a subtle and... See full review

"Echoes Reality" is a monster. This is one of those tracks that can enhance the quality of life immediately and drastically. Not at all minimal in nature, very sentimental and dreamy, with lots of little sounds popping and crackling throughout the... See full review

This is the most overrated ambient music artist, period. All albums sound exactly the same, think the worst and the most pointless 90s ambient. Take early Biosphere, add Thomas Koener's "Kaamos", subtract any sense of composition and musical piece... See full review

This record is basically a collection of voice loops over some simple clicks-and-cuts. The voice phrases are recorded separately, see tracks 10-18, the titles of these tracks are exactly the words that are being repeated.

The point of this "album"... See full review

Why, oh why is this rated so high? This album is one rough and noisy opening track, one ambient-ish "song" titled "Returnal" that would fit perfectly on such Underworld's web-only releases as "Lovely Broken Thing" or "JAL to Tokyo" (both from 5 years... See full review
