"Dale Nixon was an alias used by Greg Ginn on Black Flag's "My War" album"
Nope, he's a real person. Check You Don't know Mojack's podast for the (hilarious) real... See full review |

It's quite possible this record wasn't played by human beings. Gauze set a new standard in tightness here, leaving their (not to sneeze at) peers in the dust. This sounds like a sped up version of Nightmare, Bastard, Death Side and themselves. I know...

Together with bands like Killdozer and Tad, the God Bullies represented the dark underbelly of white trash America, inhabited by TV Evangelists, Snake Charmers, inbred Hillbilly Serial Killers and three eyed Swamp Monsters. Their motto 'War on...

The UK answer to TSOL (or is it the other way around?). Black Cat sounds like a lost take from the Weathered Statues sessions. Pretty neat proto Goth/Death Rock with obvious Damned and Siouxsie influences.

There is something about all these over designed, high quality printed, multiple versioned collectors nightmares that really puts me off. I mean it's very neat and all and some of it looks great, but it's a far cry from urgency of the Pusmort days....

Contrary to what they want you to believe, there is nothing classic about these bands or this scene. Dumb reactionary Cro magnon hardcore for Anti-Vaxxers and Trump supporters. You know, real men who live by a code.

Runaway is an under rated Marley Marl gem and a great companion piece to MC Shan's Cocaine.

It's ironic that the first pressings of this record say "pay no more than 25 dollars" as a joke

MIA is the winner here, raw & catchy So-Cal HC and a total classic that can hold it's own against the Samoans, Red Kross etc. I Hate Hippies is one of the Great Punk Hits. Genocide are a bit more generic sounding, mainly due to sloppy production. The...

This is truly a top tune, especially the overwieght mix, but the mixing and mastering on it is proper armature hour. Everything is pumped in the mid and there are no dynamics to speak of, not even the 100 tons of bass we're promised really deliver....

"this makes early 80s UK hardcore punk sound like Journey" well it didn't and it doesn't. There's no denying it's importance und power but you obviously don't really know what you're talking about and are just trying to sound interesting. You...

KBD was a great concept when it started out, and pretty much the only way to find out and listen to some hyper obscure Punk Rock back in dem days. The snotty write ups and general attitude made them fun to listen to and fired the imagination about...

By the time this came out the KBD/Bloodstains/BTF sage was beginning to wear a bit thin, but it's a cool installment nonetheless with standout tracks by The Executives, Discords, X-Patriots and the Red Squares. Hee haw!

Never imagined this was released in Germany, the liner notes just seem too funny for that. I thought it came out of the Crypt Records camp. Anyway, by now everyone has heard these tracks, but it's like 4 volumes of KBD condensed into one. This plays...

well for one it hasn't really sold for the asking price has it? it's always been rare is what. Here's some backstory

Recorded on Feb 13, 1988 and June 20, 1988 but yeah released in '89 it seems.

While this became kinda pointless after the reissues it's still a pretty cool boot that's worth seeking out and nice for completists. Better than most of the bootlegs from that era anyway. World Greatest was an interesting little label and these were...

Much easier to find than the 7"and at 3-4 minutes side cut super loud. Nice thick cardboard sleeve too.

An excellent sounding reissue with a loud cut. Worth it if you wanna save a couple of grand

Yes, it's a bootleg of a bootleg! Way to go Heinz

So what do we have here then? Another single contributor/owner thing. Is this really from 1983? Is it unofficial? And how would you know?? There is literally nothing on mr Gurusma's (the person that added/owns it) resume to suggest he would be privy...

Owned, rated & added by only 1 user, mogila. This smells like a one off bed room cdr and not a release pirate/boot or whatever. Pretty lame and it only muddies the waters. If you want a copy I suggest you rip it from youtube and burn it to cd and glue...

I doubt The Brezhnev was ever really used by the band, seems to me like a bootlegger trying to be funny and muddying the waters.

One of my fave French language Punk records. Cold and gnarly sounding but very catchy and driving with just enough reverb to evoke the delapitated streets of a rainy Brussels suburb in the 1970's.
|

Lonely Streets is great on this, raw and slightly inept Synth Pop with a live feel that unintentionally reaches high drama because of the interaction between the endless arpeggio and the rest of the arrangement. A real gem!

Who will fall is onne of the saddest and most beautiful records I know of. Absolutely mesmerizing and haunting. While subdued and ethereal it's ultimately devastating. Airborne Bells is good but fairly standard Coil fare that sounds like a Horse...

The Doom side is obviously a classic, but No security is no slouch either. Manic Swedish hardcore vs D-Beat karaoke hits make this on of the best split albums of the era.

How is this not on everybody's wantlist? Clear & Present Danger is peaktime manic darkside jungle with high a drama bassline

This might've worked as a 4x12 but as with the other D&B Selection comps the pressing is lousy and cannot be played at loud volume if you don't wanna drown in a sea of distortion and surface noise. Running it red indeed, but not in the way you want...

Watch Out's main theme (at around 2.38) uses the same chord progression as Black Sabbath's Black Sabbath.

People like to throw the words 'overlooked' and 'underrated' around as if it were sprinkles on a donut, but oh man if there was ever a case.. Jeamland (Trace's World) is a ridiculous dark hypnotic amen trip that shows the man in his prime. It's crisp,...

Agreed, Subway is Subway and all, but for me KIllamanjaro is one of the best tunes of the 96 era, a proper deep trip!

The Inna Rhythm version of Carrie that's here in the youtube clips is not the original version of the track, but a much more cleaned up and less wild one

You're probably skipping stuff now that will be worth a ton later. So goes that.

Lewcified Rmx is top tier Jungle Techno with a 4/4 bottom and acid stabs, which is kinda rare for this era when many producers favored the piano over the 303. Dark and moody and sucks you in. It's among his best work. The Summerfield rmx is passable...

I'm guessing The Trap is from '96. Sound design similar to Storm & Dynamics, and compare the break of You're Something Else around 1.30 to The Trap around 1.30. Think these were all done around the same time in '96, his best year for me, with 97 as a...

How do you know they're sold? They might've been removed by the seller or they changed the price when they noticed it goes for more. Or as the others say, sold outside and takes time to update. Conspiracy shmiracy nostradamus ;)

4.53 out of 5rating and 450 want . Underrated how exactly?
|

Out of all the D&B selection series this is the loudest one, so it's passable, but still a good 6db below the average 12", so probs not great on a big system

Sure we knew. For those few years 93-97 it was the most exciting thing ever, and it's amazing how well it stood the test of time. Only real music does that.

It's funny how that goes. If this was a released as Tom & Jerry, it would be 60 bucks right now and have 12 reviews. Needless to say Chalice is up there with the best of them, so the joke's on the fanboys.
