Very poor quality pressing. Maybe a bootleg.

This version pressed on inferior quality (thinner) vinyl to original Shoes 001 release. I have both copies and wouldn't recommend the re-press due to this.

Bought new from Juno but there was already plenty of snap, crackle and pop on the pressing.

Bought new but there's plenty of snap and crackle at the beginning of the disc even after cleaning.

'Ark' is a remix of the Congos track 'Ark of the Covenant' with new vocals recorded by Roydel Johnson. Other tracks are Dubs.

Two remixes of 'solid foundation' with new vocals recorded by Cedric Myton.

Bad quality pressing. Grooves are very close together so disc skips easily. There is also a 'hissy' background noise on both sides. The same for other releases on VP records in this 'Dancehall Classics' series I've heard.

All clips on the Internet I've seen are of the 2005 mix. So far not come across any of the 1987 release. At least one clip shows the 1987 sleeve, but the track uploaded is not the corresponding release.

There are two different remixes with the same name on these two different releases:

It doesn't say the 3xLPs are mixed so I assume only the CDs are, in which case social's comment is valid and helpful.

Kraftwerk edit only includes breakdown sections of track not melodies.

A track recorded with people playing actual instruments will always have a slightly varied time signature. By looping chunks of the track, these inconsistencies are not totally removed but they are significantly reduced.

Talking Heads edit involves loops of the original of different numbers of bars, so does not play at a completely consistent number of BPMs all the way through. However, the extended intro is consistent and fairly easy to mix.

And it's a great, great remix. Unfortunately, the other tracks on this disc aren't up to scratch.

It's a classic track but the remixes haven't aged well; they sound much more dated than the 1986 original.

The original is a classic of its time, but these remixes are worthless: a particular style of mid-90s techno with a soulless 'thunk-thunk-thunk' sound. Why bother?

Excellent remix by Kerrier District (Luke Vibert) bumps it up to 128bmp.

The pitch is slightly unstable on these tracks, perhaps as a result of them being taken from reel-to-reel tapes? Also, again perhaps for the same reasons, the mastering is a bit off.

The label on A side incorrectly states playback speed should be 33rpm. Actually, both sides were designed to be played at 45rpm. However, while the Power Plant Remix sounds cheesy if played at the 'correct speed (150bpm), when slowed down to 33rpm ... See full review

This release is mostly about the Midas Touch remix.

I'll second the comment below: the labels on my copy are correct and the sound quality is OK. Maybe these cuts are just boosted MP3s, but good as the Midas Touch remix is, to me at least, it's not ... See full review

5/5 for the Afro-Acid Remix (the rest of the disc is unmemorable) but no - it's not the one played by Hawtin.

This original 1987 Afro Acid Remix has a driving tribal house sound, but lacks the wonky acid effects which make the release on club ... See full review

Rusty? No. Of course, this was not Kraftwerk at their creative peak, but to suggest they were running out of ideas is too much. Well known tracks have been reworked into a DJ friendly package that still retains more than enough of the original ... See full review

Some peerless production of contemporary NYC house music on this collection. Also some mainstream pop music sensibilities coming through strongly on a number of the tracks.
