My entire music collection exists in digital format. I don't physically own anything in my collection anymore, unless it's up for sale.
I love music, I care not too much for plastic and paper. :)

From a child I have very much enjoyed music. I heard my parents playing predominately disco-style music during the late 70s into early 80s, although they had music from popular artists also. And the radio was on for most of the day, so I heard all the popular music from then. (I grew up in Europe, came back to UK late 1983). I distinctly remember hearing Kraftwerk's The Model, but didn't get into them until many years later. Disco was just fading away at this stage, making way for electronic music. We had some really quirky things like Landscape's Einstein a Go‐Go. I liked this sort of stuff as a kid but I also felt it was quite peculiar and strange. Still is.

My own personal interest in music began early 80s, aged 8-10 yrs, as I explored Heavy Metal bands such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, AC/DC and suchlike. That's when I started collecting my own music onto tapes. It was some years later that heard Led Zeppelin and explored Rock even further with band like The Who, and by extension The Jam. For a couple of years I dressed like a Mod. Quadrophenia was my favourite movie at the time.

I guess by my teens I was open to listening to pretty much anything, not that I liked everything. I listened to major artists from the 50's, 60's and 70's, including Rock, Soul, Blues, etc. But what really caught my attention circa 1985 was Hip-Hop Electro and Rap. I continued to listed to Hip-Hop until the late 90s, don't listen to it at all now. But I stuck with Electro and the newer Elektro sound developing in the mid to late 90's onwards. Also during the mid to late 80's I became involved in the Acid House/Rave scene. This had a profound impact on my life, alongside drug use/abuse! I completely removed myself from this scene mid 1993. I didn't listen to any new music until late 90's, exploring Detroit and European Elektro. Within a few years I came across IDM, and that's pretty much stuck with me now. Although that style also opened me up to Ambient, Glitch, Noise, Drone etc. And also, I guess from around 2015, I do listen to some Modern Classical, usually with some kind of electronic edge, or an otherwise modernised sound.

I was born right on the cusp of the birth of electronic music, it's been a mad journey since. I keep my ear out for new styles, but It's harder to impress me as the years go by. At this stage I'm also overwhelmed by the amount of music that I own and the amount that is out there.

I have qualifications in Computer Programming and Database Design, Computer Aided Design, and Sound Engineering.
I also make electronic music, have done for over 25 years. I guess at some stage I should release some albums. :P
