Recorded or released? Curious. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.

The CD sounds better and has more songs. Nine. Ten.

Guitar and vocal on "Hastings Street" is by Blind Blake.

Notes claim this was originally on Atlantic. It was on Dot. UK issue was on London. i guess Atlantic has more cachet.
Typical grey market label, pretty cheesy. Spend a few bucks and get Arthur's "The Greatest" on Ace. Or the o.p. comp on Razor and Tie. |

Super rare hype stickers. I'm not going there. nine ten.
|

Or any exorbitant ones either. six seven eight nine ten.

I also have all the "Born Bad" LPs and a bunch of these "Righteous" cash-ins. My faves are the three volume "Songs the Cramps taught us" boot CDs.

I wish Ace records would put out a high quality Brenda and the Tabulations comp. These "Jamie/Guyden Dist. Corp." releases are apparently legit but they look like cheesy boots. And they're over twenty years old. And the current YouTube vids that...

If you think you have enough girl group comps in your collection you're wrong. This set is one of the best things Numero has put out.
It's all obscurities and all good to great. I heard only two or three vaguely familiar tunes. A few of the cuts are... See full review |

Enhanced? In what way? 5 6 7 8 9 10.

One of the earliest of Ace/Kent's many CD reissues of Modern material. Mostly Motown influenced tunes. Sound is ok but not as good as it would be on later Ace CDs.

I just went on YouTube and listened to her first record "witchcraft in the air" recorded when she was 16. Amazing!

"Soul Jam" is one of the better European p.d. labels with nice packaging and generally very good sound. But this one is compressed.
It's very LOUD. |

Better than average bootleg sound on this series. Sound is full with decent dynamics.

Don't like how they messed with the cover art. Ten

My copy is definitely a pressed CD. Not a CDr.
|

Also their affiliate "Plain Recordings." Shit reissues. Eight, nine, ten.
|

Another reissue of Sonny Boy's early 50s pre Chess Trumpet sides. Great performances but definitely not hi fi.
|

These are early 50s Downbeat-Swing Time sides. Eight, nine, ten.

Most public domain labels are garbage but these Proper boxes are not bad, especially with the Mosaic LP box going for $400 and up.
|

Pretty good sound on this one except the last three songs which are mastered from completely destroyed 78s.

It's on YouTube. Supposedly uploaded from a mint VHS tape.

Hello KidFrosbite, gritty.groovy.funky., williamsewardb
Hey guys I think that maybe Jazzman is paying tribute to the era of the record changer. Many two LP sets came like this in the 60s. Modern record collectors will cringe but you would stack up... See full review |

toothpick. toothpick. toothpick. toothpick. yeah! title slip plus bubble wrap.

My copy, which I bought new, had "lysol" covered not in tape but black magic marker which came off easily with light rubbing alcohol.
"Lysol" on the spine was not covered up. I still listed it in my collection as an "expurgated" copy but it looks original. See full review |

Would some kind soul burn me a copy of disc 4? I managed to snap mine in half removing it fro the case.
|

No Shit. And the claim that they were never available is wrong. I got mine from Ernie B. a few years ago.

Best to get Stag-O-Lee stuff through Crypt mailorder...or Import CDs if they're not sold out.
|

Avoid "Hallmark" label at all costs. seven, eight, nine, ten.

Late reply. There is a new 2CD set on VP/17 North Parade that is pretty awesome.

Dub Store has been reissuing stuff from Federal. Nice if they would do this.
|

"Audiophile" and "Reggae" should not be mentioned in the same sentence. Considering the source material Dub Store does a fantastic job. I love this label.

Got my copy from Ernie B. a few years ago.

Nah. It's fake outsider music. I fell for the con and bought this CD. Mali? Get outta here.

All of these tunes are on the "Dave Hamilton's Detroit Dancers" CD series on Ace records. Ace is coming out with their own LP version which has some alternate takes and two early sides which are not on this "Timmion" LP.

Yazoo's 2005 release "Hard Time Killin' Floor" is a great improvement.

I bought a couple Sun Ra reissues. About equal to the Scorpio reissues of years ago. Not so hot but not horrible.

Anybody know why they changed the cover on this comp after only a year?

Tons of CDs pressed at Phillips DuPont Optical (PDO) are no longer playable. There is much info online. Google PDO disc rot.

No matter which pressing you own it's a mess, even the Epic original...with atrocious audio and fake crowd sound from a bullfight dubbed in.
|

These are the "last sessions" recorded in the 50s. Same material as the early 60s Prestige issue.
|

These are the Library of Congress recordings recorded by John Lomax in 1940. Same as the mid 60s "Biograph" issue.
|

I love his 50s stuff. The 70s stuff is unlistenable.

Picture above is Barbara Lewis. Six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
|

Yeah. I thought ACE was meticulous about paying proper royalties.

The garbage Hallmark label must be avoided. eight nine ten.
