Come Easy is a blinder. If you like Cold Fresh Air, grab this 12".
And the flip, Invincible, is a nicely chopped roller with vibes to spare.
Underrated.
posted a comment on Overdubb - Ruffplate / Eruption. 22 days ago
Ruffplate is straight up jungle tekno. It's the perfect straddle between jungly and more roller/4-4 licks.
Don't sleep on this one. It really is just pure fook off-ism.

This is some underrated selection right here. DJ Yomi + Steve Gurley (of Foul Play) come with a deep cut. Both mixes deliver the chills. Snap it up, people.

A Side (Erazer) is the one that started it all, and cemented Amit's signature sound. Fans of half time d&b, start here (along with a few cuts from label boss Digital's back catalogue).

I completely agree. Deep and rugged at the same time.
The B-side, Circuit does big time damage too on a ruffer tip.
Spirit is sadly getting many of his props posthumously. RIP
posted a comment on Spirit - Mind2Mind / Smokescreen. 3 months ago
Underrated for sure. Mind2Mind is a heavy Spirit roller in the classic style. Rugged beats and sub-bass. Layered atmospheres, alongside old school riffs and spinbacks. Just a heavy rollout.
Smokescreen is one of his best energetic, yet deep, rollers.... See full review

Electricks is a classic example of what these producers were doing on V, Full Cycle, and Dope Dragon at the time... 97/98. Do not sleep.

Underrated release from the Basement Records camp. Playful amen track with reggae vibes on side A, and a deep stepper with classic vocals (sung by Joanna Law) from the Roberta Flack classic on the B. Affordable jungle from the golden age.

Super under-rated. Get yourself a copy. It's readily available, cheap, and DOPE.

I agree completely. Coincidentally, I love mixing this cut with "Wired - New York, New York"... one of your productions.

Heavily sampling the unreleased track "Bad Boy - Bad Boy", it almost comes in sounding like a remix of that track (the original only appeared on Hit The Decks III). This is a slept on release from the early 2000's hardcore revival in jungle/drum&bass.

Great album, not a back cut on it. But one of the worst wastes of a gatefold cover ever. It could have used some more extensive art or liner notes inside and on the back cover. Otherwise, why bother?

Inside My Head is IN FACT a certified banger. This was my choice cut on the EP from day one, and I gave it many proper rinses. The cool thing is that it worked in a more chill "opener" set, as well as a later "peak time" set. Mistical Dub was the... See full review

Rated X is one of Total Science's best old school hardcore revival tracks. It's full of '92-'93 rave energy. They also remixed Manix's "Special Request" around this same time. I heard them play both of these tracks in the same mix. Shame it never got... See full review

Drop Heavy is a runnin' roller of the highest order. Though a bit darker, I'd rank this one alongside "Fire & Water" by Calibre. Try mixing them together.

Amazing EP from L Double, ST Files (and one other contributor). Two deep cuts that explore similar terrain with Van Kleef's (Top Buzz) "Life Began Changing/Peace In Our Time", and one that goes into amen break tear out territory. Underrated, and... See full review

I agree. The Total Science Jazz Note remix is the pick here. Stunning. Lemon D does a good job on the Burning remix too, sticking close to the vibe of the original version, but bringing up the tempo and BOOM factor. The Warhead remixes on the other... See full review

Listen to Deep Bass 9 by JMJ & Richie (aka Parallel World) on the Moving Shadow 2 on 1 series.
It sounds to me like it's a remix of Tear Into It, or vice-versa.

This record, both sides, absolutely smashed my sets for the better part of 2000/2001. I still drop these gems regularly to this day, because they are just pure, boiled down to the essence, hard jungle trax. Big up Digital and Spirit (RIP).

Badman compilation! All tunes are either rinsing fire cuts, or on a deeper tip. With three tracks to each side, the cut is a little quiet, but a proper DJ can adjust the gains to make them work in a set (studio or live). Totally doable.

I hope I'm not offending too many people when I say that I actually like the Christmas tune. Add to that the slammin' B-side, and this 12" is a winner. Get over yourselves, and get this record.

I agree. This is some true underground white label badness. My pick of the three is also AA2.
Simply rough & rollin'.
posted a comment on Oaysis / EQ - Classics Vol 1. 6 months ago
This release contains a different mix/arrangement of Oaysis - Incredible Bass (Slipmatt Awaited Remix) than the release of the same name that came out a year earlier. This one definitely sounds more 95-96 than the other one on VIC 003, which sounds more 93-94. See full review

One for the drum & bass heads, as well as the techno heads. Total classic that I cained back in the day, and still do today.

Situations is a near perfect example of deep liquid funk drum & bass.
The beats are simple and tough. The bass is deep and forceful.

The vocals are minimal, and chopped in and out of the mix.

I compare this release to the first two records on the Photek label. One side is a smashing amen tune, while the other is a "mellower" spacey number.

Sunset Over Stevenage is an underrated tune. It has similar off kilter beats, pads, and bass like Helicopter Tune, but with the addition of a piano line even Nookie/Cloud 9 would be proud of. Don't sleep on this one any longer.
