Bowie fan since I got the bug in '72. Rekindled my interest in collecting again after visiting the 'David Bowie is' exhibition in London at the V and A in June 2013. A few nagging gaps in my 500+ Bowie collection that I am now filling on Discogs. I won't pay stupid prices but if the goods are graded properly I don't mind paying a fair price to the seller. I pride myself on prompt payment and communication and just expect in return good customer care, quick dispatch and reasonably prompt replies to questions etc.

Note that I also have large collection of vinyl, cassette and CDs not just Bowie covering a whole gamut of other artists and genres: classical, jazz, soul, rock, pop, disco/dance, world music etc. but at present I have neither the time or the inclination to add them to the database. Either that or I'm just a lazy sod!

Only 1,500 pressed for the first in the series ‘Starman’. Therefore quite scarce and consequently goes for a fair few pennies these days, £250 plus. Note that seen as you asked Solgaard I am just answering and I am not a dealer trying to tout for ... See full review

I've also heard it's to do with the weight, but what I've been told is that the blue vinyl is heavier than the black.

I have just been into my local, long-term independent record shop to snag my silver Aladdin Sane and they have ... See full review

Just weighed my blue copy - 180gHow do we know the blue is limited? The listings I see for this simply say Black or Blue Vinyl

To answer shwaggy, Bowie’s website states that is limited concerning the blue vinyl and when the run ... See full review

Given the comments below plus my expansion of the release notes yesterday, there is now ample explanation on this release to help buyers differentiate between a '67 original, which is less common in its availability (thus more expensive), and the more ... See full review

1 copy on already at 150 euros, way above what they will charge in the museum shop. There's making a decent profit and out and out bloodsucking! Some people have no shame.

Is there something going on here? Firstly, someone adds a spurious note, since removed, to the release claiming an extra RSD pressing. Then a whole batch of really cheap copies appear for sale. I have my suspicions so caveat emptor!

I believe the sale prices only go on when the sellers settle up their accounts with Discogs so there's a time lag and hence the disparity.

I have been unable to find a source for the numbers pressed so thanks. If you've still got the source for this then why not add this info to the notes please 🙂

Thanks for that. I was toying with not breaking the seal and keeping it mint, as I have a very good quality CD bootleg of this but your review has convinced me to play it. Sounds a tasty pressing and mix 🙂

William S Burroughs was the inventor of the so-called 'cut-up technique' whereby the author randomly cuts up with scissors lines of a story, a diary entry etc and then reassembles the fragments to come up with a completely new narrative text. Bowie was ... See full review

Contains probably the 1st instance of "Drive In Saturday" being performed live. According to legend Bowie saw some mysterious domes on the horizon while traveling to the gig, which inspired him to write the track, and it was so new he hadn't had time yet ... See full review

Listen to parts of the melody and the "doo-dah-doos" and the "la-la-la-las" sung by Bowie, re-used and re-utilised by him a few years later to more sinister effect on the track 'Saviour Machine' on 'The Man Who Sold The World'.

Yes but IMHO it's not as good a version as when Bowie redid it on 'Aladdin Sane'. Rumour has it that such was the rivalry at that time between Bolan and Bowie that the former deliberately under-cooked the guitar solo so as to sabotage the record.

Probable soundboard recording giving excellent sound quality. Rehearsals were clearly needed, as Bowie cocks up the lyrics on both 'Station To Station' and 'Suffragette City' despite the former being relatively newly composed and the latter being ... See full review

As this was the last night of the European leg of the tour, it features a rare live recording of "Sound and Vision", which was not usually performed on the tour and not again until years later on the tour of the same name.
