I actually have to agree with you and delete my earlier comment. My stereo wasn't set up properly when I first listened to the album. Just put it on today (stereo fixed) and wow, it's like a revelation. This album sounds radiant! The clarity is next... See full review

I agree with you there. The Japanese pressings of the first 4 albums are the best sounding versions I own.

Vinyl is not distorted in the high frequencies at all. The record has a rich analog warmth that the CD does not capture at all. Thankfully, this 90s piece of vinyl was done right.

If the matrices match than it’s an original press. Bootleg pressings would not have the same matrices as an authentic original Uk copy
Screaming Trees - Invisible Lantern

Records released by SST actually sound pretty decent. The recordings aren’t perfect, it sounds like the engineer was trying to get it right, trying to figure out the right balance between Lanegan’s vocals and that screaming guitar from Gary Lee (some... See full review

[quote=firstpunicwar] Gonna say I agree with you. Mike Mills and Bill Berry both really vouch for the MoFi. The Reckoning MoFi might only be "different" and maybe not better but this one is a clear choice to me over the original pressings.... See full review

I totally agree. I personally think the original REM pressings sound better than the MFSL versions especially for the first 2 albums.
Pixies - Bossanova

This reissue is awesome. I actually think it sounds better than my original US version. Sounds more full and definitely more defined bass and a more driving low end. Drums are huge and everything sounds very clear and detailed with crisp treble. My... See full review

This is like the 2nd weirdest transition of hardcore punk bands to new wave other than Blitz. How can a band go from ‘I Hate People’ and ‘Let’s Break The Law’ to signing about human rights in Africa. A very odd transition for a band. It’s like they... See full review

This is really a fantastic reissue of this album. Punchy drums, nice thick low end. Detailed midrange that makes that guitar work come alive. Clear vocals. Nice definition and clarity. Sounds abundant and full. He a warm analog sheen to the sound. The... See full review

This reissue damn near blew my socks off! What a humongous sound! This cut absolutely kills. Drums are huge! Bass is huge! Crazy weird effects are huge! Everything just sounds larger-than-life! I have never experienced this album like this before. The... See full review

This is an excellent sounding reissue. Drums and bass are solid and really add the extra heaviness to some of these songs. Detail is immaculate and all the weird electronic, synthesizer things sound awesome. This is also a very high quality pressing... See full review

This is actually a decent reissue. While it doesn’t quite have the sonic definition and texture of the original, it still sounds good. The drums and bass have been supercharged and are mostly out front here and really give the music a hard-pounding... See full review

Ahhhhhh. This record is a breath of fresh air! The sound is simply mind blowing! For a live jazz album this is exactly what I want it to sound like. This is a larger-than-life soundstage that just explodes this music into another dimension. I’ve never... See full review

I have to say this is an awesome pressing. Pressed perfectly and plays dead quiet…I mean dead quiet! Listen to The Slant, you won’t hear a thing in the background, just Ani’s lush voice. The dynamics in DiFranco’s vocals are magical, reaching the... See full review

This album just sounds tremendous on vinyl. Elegantly saturated analog synths with a warm, blissful sound and heavy, trance-inducing drum beats that pound out of the speakers. I have Substance and Brotherhood on vinyl as well and while those pressings... See full review

I was very surprised with how good the sound quality on this CD is. The original 12 inch version of Blue Monday is probably the most excellent mix of the song I’ve ever heard. I don’t typically listen to CDs and this particular one sounds really good.

Probably out-of-print. SST used Rainbo pressing plant to keep most of their titles in print. Now that Rainbo no longer exists, these aren’t being pressed, until SST finds a new pressing facility and right now that’s extremely hard to do.

I agree with you. I like the drums more up front in the mix and honestly I cannot hear any blown out tones. The drums have a natural reverb to them and the bass is very deep and might be hard to drive on some systems but I think this record sounds... See full review
