Beside the really fascinating music the liner notes on the 4 inner sleeve sides give a lot of information about New Orleans history, the mix of population, the origin of music styles, the civyl rights development from the origin to the present.

A little misleading title. It's a Jazz compilation of tracks with blues origin or written with a bluesy touch, performed by bigger bands with typical jazz instruments, quite far away from the roots blues.

This issue seems to be the reduced version of the 2×LP, Compilation, Gatefold, original version from where only track one, side one & track three, side two appear. The tracks two, side one & one and two, side two are not on the original version.

The recording quality of this version is rather bad. There is to much auditorium noise in this live recording that overlays the music. The sound is like through a closed window. I would recommend this one only to Charles Earland experts who want to...
