So to put it another way: this is taken straight from the CD!

Who cares that this is the first time it's been pressed on 180gm vinyl and includes "enhanced artwork"?! The record's weight is no indication of how much attention and detail (or lack of) have gone into the mastering. Until someone can confirm that this ... See full review

Agreed. This requires a good few listens but ultimately, fully justifies its release. Think of it as the soundtrack to a film yet to be made!

You might want to get the records out of their official PVC sleeves and put them into something safer!

Funny! I seem to recall that this album was generally speaking, "greeted" with derision, upon its release. Nice to know that there are others that share my high regard for it.

My friend's copy has got a rather unpleasant pressing flaw on track 3 of side one (Nineteen seventeen) that sounds for about 15 seconds in total. Not good! Aside from that, the sound is very good, with heavy bass, as others have said.

This is an amazing "dubby" version of "It's better this way". That was a groovy, groovy speed, indeed, Billy, and in fact, this might even be better this way!

I have a cassette single version of this (BFLC33 (bar code: 5 025055 300337 >)) that plays the same on both sides. Surprised to see no listing for it here.

My copy is identical to this in all respects other than on the spine, my reads: 2292-46461-4 U, instead of 246 461-4 U.

Since when has the number of units shifted, ever been an indicator of musical quality? Pomme Fritz and Orbus Terrarum are the only The Orb records I want or need. Quite a beautiful "downgrade", then!

Hello Ken. I remember my father playing Ted Lewis quite a bit when I was a child. The version of Walking around in a dream, from his Million memories album is a record that has always meant a lot to me. His vocal style was also very ahead of its time in ... See full review

You'd obviously have a problem with 7" singles, with only 1 track on each side, then! Maybe vinyl isn't your thing?

Not quite sure what you mean by: "it is vinyl after all." Are you saying that because it is vinyl, one's expectations shouldn't be too high or that because it's vinyl, the sound quality goes without saying? Either way, I could put up an argument!

My copy tallies with this in all respects other than that the Matrix/Runout ends MEL/cts but without any number(s) after it.

Not really, and especially when you consider that he had started drinking again (according to John Cale) after his liver transplant!

Yes, perhaps they could give us this instead of another reissue of Transformer!

My copy differs in that the matrix/runout ends: M1S2 rather than M1S6 CI and the Mould SID code reads IFPI 2U3P and not 2U6B. There is also a photo, underneath the clear tray of a black man, with his legs spread and bent at the knees, with a rather ... See full review

Yes, a re-issue would be nice, and a guaranteed seller if these comments are anything to go by, but unless it's done properly then what advantage would there be in owning it over a C.D.copy? I think we're all beginning to realise that recordings are ... See full review

Well you got your wish and there's been a change of producer. What's the verdict now; is/are the producer(s) to blame or are Depeche Mode just spent? If anything, I think that the Spirit album proves just what a good job Ben Hillier did, over his 3 ... See full review

I'm here to put up a case for the defence of Ben Hillier, who seems to have been blamed by a lot of DM fans for the supposed paucity of the 3 DM albums he produced. First of all; Hillier did not write the songs, so if you consider the songs on those ... See full review

Seeing as Beyond the sun has finally been given a deserved vinyl release, would it be asking too much for this fine album to receive the same treatment?

I think that this album is highly deserving of a vinyl release. I'd go as far as to say that this, along with the Vini Reilly album, might just be the Durutti Column's best.

The only Elton John record in my collection and although it's almost entirely instrumental, it contains one of my favourite ever lyrics. If you listen closely you'll hear the almost whispered words; "Life isn't everything". Now that's deep!

This is a fantastic collection of tracks. Wonderfully produced and fantastic sound! Would have been perfect if it had included Dollar days and Sue (or in a season of crime), which alone with the title track I consider to be the best songs on the album.
