My box set is absolute perfection. I didn't have the label issue and every single record is pressed perfectly- flat, centered, and beautiful. I've listened to the entire set and there was not a pop or tick (I do clean my records first before playing).... See full review

This album was famously recorded digitally to begin with, so nobody should have expected all analog on this one. Also, I agree it sounds fantastic.

Agree with (most) everyone. This sounds fantastic and is pressed flat with no surface noise on my copy.

Be sure to play it before Christmas time if you order this! I did not, it was far past the point of returning, and my copy is absolutely unlistenable. Like a Studio One reissue made on Friday afternoon unlistenable. Worse than I could ever imagine... See full review

Not surprising since I was calling Tone Poet to reissue this one, this was my most anticipated of the Classic series this time around. It doesn't disappoint one bit! Sounds amazing and my copy is flawless. Can't recommend this one enough!

I never noticed but you're right! It's about 1/4 inch bigger than the record on either side of it.
Al Campbell - No More Running

I think the rating should be based on the pressing/mastering mainly. The music is subjective and you can check it out on youtube if you want to know if you like the album, but the pressing quality is what I want to know if it is good or not when... See full review

The pictures leave out how you can tell an original from the later press. "Made in UK" sticker on the back of the jacket and the original generic paper sleeve also says Made in UK at the bottom.

Do, I wish they'd found a perfect copy for this vinyl transfer? Of course. But if you are a reggae collector you can easily enjoy this reissue. It's a pretty good vinyl transfer from an OK copy. Listening to this sounds pretty much like I'd imagine... See full review

I gave in and got this one. I agree on all points. Not the best sounding Tone Poet but still very enjoyable.

I got mine shipped from Munster at the end of January. Mastering is good but it has a sharp warp that thumps at the beginning of the record. Been wishing this was on record for decades so it was quite an expensive let down. So much care obviously went... See full review

I was honestly not expecting anywhere near this quality. I was not willing to pay for an OG but love this album so wanted a copy. I only have my original CD to compare with, but the detail and impact are greatly improved. Also, dead quiet vinyl even... See full review

Finally got a copy! First impression was, I thought AP went to 180 grams because this is a slab? I had to weigh it because it was so noticeably more than 180 grams... 240 grams! You could hurt somebody with this thing. Nice, thick cover too. As for... See full review

I was wondering this myself. Looking through the comments we have 2 for the new one and one for the bootleg. So, I'm still torn on it. So many great jazz reissues coming out that I don't already own a copy of, I'll probably pass with these mixed reviews.

That's disappointing to hear. This was the one I was most excited about of this year's releases.

I've never once had a seam split on one of these thick covers between more than 40 Tone Poets and 20 Music Matters. The OP is talking about the inner fold, which I have experienced. It's like it flakes away because there is no real crease there. I... See full review

I use the resealable ones from Sleeve City and they fit, although they are tight. The cardboard is such high quality I've never had an issue with a corner bending as a result though. And since I prefer sealable ever since I had a house plant leak... See full review

If it is mastered for dynamic range, that would inherently be more quiet. The trend in music and especially metal these days is to compress the shit out of everything so that it will play as loudly as possible to compete with other releases (known as... See full review

Nonfill sounds like a ripping sound, almost like velcro being torn apart. Once you hear it, you'll know. It's a very unnatural sound compared to most surface noise and if loud enough is a jarring sound (and right in the middle of the song and can be... See full review

No, I haven't. QRP is the only plant today that still presses amazing audiophile level records from my experience. I have quite a few from 2020 and 2021 (I got curious and looked in my collection- 26 to be exact) and they would serve as an example of... See full review

I just said I got one. I think this is an important recording that should be available to more people. I also don't think it was a bad price and they could've sold it for that without RSD, and a lot more of them. If you sell a lot more records, that's... See full review

This record has super intense bass. Plenty of bass to cause skipping if your speakers and turntable aren't isolated or if your cartridge doesn't track well. Do you have your speakers on the same surface as your turntable?
