I'd like to be a dork for a moment. I love the modern AMREP vinyl game. You always walk away with a legitimate piece of art and it feels like a labor of love. You can also bet the music itself is fantastic (it is). Great stuff from The Phlyzzz, who... See full review

A worthwhile compilation for the Unwound nut. I'd gobble up a vinyl reissue in a heartbeat (cough, Numero, cough).

Cleanest pressing I've owned! Highly recommend grabbing this while you can.

I recently posted a review for the 2023 pressing and subsequently deleted it before anyone could yell at me. They used the same remaster as the pressing you mentioned. I can confirm that it does indeed sound awful and not in a pretentious audiophile... See full review

Just saw a cool new 25th anni pressing coming out in August on the numero site. This one comes with a book/poster.

REDEMPTION TIME!

Cheers

Affordable reissue that sounds pretty dang good and possibly better than the CD/Boxset versions. Surprisingly quiet disc to boot!

Haven't seen anything about a 2009 reissue. Though, that was around the time the Touch & Go releases saw a remaster/reissue campaign.

I'm no engineer and I don't care to do a crash course on the Hoffman forums, but do you think they used separate sources for the digital vs. the vinyl? I don't doubt that they were mastered separately for each format, but who knows? That'd be... See full review
Black Eyes - Black Eyes

Great pressing! Black Eyes contributed their fair share to the rich legacy of political/noisy rock and or roll, much like The Pop Group and This Heat. Worth a listen if that's your thing!

Sounds infinitely less harsh than the 1972 (label) reissue. Volume is a little low but that's what knobs are for!

Happy with this.
Cluster - Zuckerzeit

I too got lucky with a fairly quiet pressing. I have no clue how SV sourced this one but it sounds wonderful! The super cool kid's Numero as far as I'm concerned.
Taylor Swift - Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, but press more? They pressed 115,000 copies of this release. That is an absurdly high number that actually ends up being a hinderance for those interested in smaller bands.

Similar experience. Wish I held onto the older CD pressing I had once upon a time. REGRETS!!!!
The Fall - Live 1977
posted a review of The Fall - Live 1977. about 1 year ago
Based on the reviews, it looks like yet another pointless "archival" release for The Fall. I've never seen a band so thoroughly exploited like this before. So many god awful bootlegs and gray area "official" releases of odds and ends.

Meatier than the OG and a solid pressing all around. Catch 'em live if you haven't already. Highly recommend you pick this one up!
The Jesus Lizard - Shot

He clearly meant original pressing.

I will say this though, the two pressings sound different. Neither is bad. I'm happy to have both as a massively huge fan TJL.

The official playback speed is 45rpm. Playing it at 33 is a kind of a joke it seems. It doesn't mean anything really.

No longer just speculation, but Dischord now has a blue variant for sale.

Good on them and also good for all of you who want a copy!

Dischord will probably repress it with a fancy color variant any moment now (that's just pure speculation of course).
I'd be happy to see that 7" back in print too!
The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion!* - Orange

I recently picked up an orange-marble reissue (sealed and new). It appears to be identical to the 2011 repress in terms of mastering and whatnot. My copy had a ton of static but otherwise sounded great.

I am entirely in agreement! Great write up and thank you for taking the time to do this.

I'm torn between Kiss of the Dog and Smothered Inside as my personal favorites. The latter reminds me a bit of "Fucking With the Altimeter."

Check your e-mails! There has been a manufacturing delay with the Blue Cloudy variant (a bunch won't make it out for another month or two). The Flenser has offered to let you swap out for another variant if desired or you can wait until February.

Cheers! See full review

this should have been called "OK" but whatever, ok?

Good album. A notch better than the s/t which is also a good album. Sweet pressing. Many variants in stock. Go buy one.

I unexpectedly got mine in the mail today. I had no idea the original was going for so much! Regardless, Merge priced this reissue reasonably and they're easily one of the best labels in the biz. They treat their customers exceedingly well! Good people.

Ordered a copy from Dischord records for a bit less than the going price here (which is also not too bad considering it is an import).

That is all. Much love.

Ooo just picked up a copy that only says limited run 1500 on the hype sticker. Hopefully it's this variant!

Beats out the first two LPs to my ears (my admittedly bad ears).
