There's a glitch on the 'Hot For You' intro but I can;t see any marks on the vinyl. Anybody else have this suggesting it is baked in?

I wasn't a huge fan of this when it came out, but playing to it today for the first time in probably 25 years I am pleased to see that impression was mostly wrong.

As is unfortunately often the case in my experience with Nice 'N Ripe the audio... See full review

Thanks. I may try to see if I can get creative in my wave editor and attempt a repair with some fake stereo.

I have a 4th version: Pale beige with no stamp or writing except my own. Should I create a new release? What a joke!

My copy of this is in a Soniq company sleeve. Not sure if that means anything, and certainly it could easily have found a new home at some point in the 90s, but it might be interesting if anybody is researching these early House "labels".

I've no proof of this, but have a sneaking suspicion this is the work of Johnny Vicious recycling his DMC remix of Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes as for example heard here Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes / Yello - Don't Remix Me This Way / Tied Up In Africa

Haven't had it in an editor yet, but certainly the same sort of noise on mine. And you can tell it is baked into the track since the background noise goes up noticably after the run in groove! A shame, but still pretty effective use of quick and... See full review

In reference to this release being a mispress or a misprint I have a great big HMV price sticker on my copy; perhaps they're all like this?

There's a clear defect on my copy of this with the right channel on 'Why You Wanna Party' badly muffled and mangled in a large section. Anybody else have that?

For my money this is a much better sounding pressing than the double pack on US I Ner Zon. OK you don't get anywhere near the number of mixes, but the Deep Dish is the standout for me anyway. Bargain!

Time to adjust your perspective to the realities of supply and demand.

Classic sought after rock albums that go for much more money then this were pressed in quantities several orders of magnitude higher.

With respect to this record, relative to the... See full review

Top slab of vinyl here, with an inexplicably low rating. Those giving it a '2' either haven't actually heard it or are having a laugh, in my view.

CtheB I am not aware of that forum and had not considered that possibility. However, assuming people have actually listened to different versions, there is only one valid method for objective comparison and that is blind A/B testing, having... See full review

Let's start with some definitions (from Wikipedia):

1) Compression is an audio signal processing operation that reduces the volume of loud sounds [and/]or amplifies quiet sounds thus reducing or compressing an audio signal's dynamic range

2) Dynamic... See full review

Let us assume that is true. Why don't you tell me in your own words what that means in terms of the sound of the tracks, and in what sense this makes the audio destroyed? Yours in anticipation. . .

Common sense dictates the track with the vocals "I can quitte understand it" is not called 'Spirit' but quite clealry 'Quite understand' The labels on this release must have been switched around at the pressing plant.

A prior reviewer makes it sound as if the track selection here has been edited by a butcher, which is most certainly not the case. A few seconds here and there have been cut to make a wonderful package free from the surface noise that in my experience... See full review

No doubt a direct comparision of old versus new will sound different. Of course, because entirely different mastering techniqus have been used. But to say as you did that sections are destroyed is objectively speaking complete nonsense. (BTW is you... See full review

I can't hear anything wrong with the sound on TSOP.

And i strongly suggest people use their ears and develop critical listening skills rather than slavishly put their faith in the output of plugins.

Yes, this material is clearly from vinyl; you can hear the occasional crackle! But if you can mentally ignore that the sound quality/mastering generally is really quite good. And if you have the time and the inclination you can easily remove crackle... See full review
