Bill Callahan & Bonnie Prince Billy* - Blind Date Party

Already one of my favorite Bonnie Prince albums. Listened through it twice and I'm stunned of the quality. Ofcourse, many other artists are involved in this too. These are covers. Many videos are available. Superwolves were already good, but this is... See full review

Still remember to this day how great it felt to listen to this record last year in high-school, 30 years back! It was the soundtrack for that winter of my life, among a few other albums, such as Joni Mitchell's Blue. I listened to it inside and... See full review
Kate Taylor - Why Wait!
posted a comment on Kate Taylor - Why Wait!. about 1 year ago
Well the band is great. The mixing is professional. Songs are okey. Kate's singing is a bit heavy. Kate sang so well on Beautiful Road - my favourite from her - but this is much different. The nuances are not there anymore. She's like a bird who's... See full review
Pink Floyd - The Endless River

The album sounds like "four millionaires gathered on a million dollar studio" and made the "most safe and boring record". They just couldn't take any chances and risk their fame? They are thinking more about achieving the perfect sounds than any... See full review
Jean-Michel Jarre - Oxygene 3

It's a very compressed mix, which I don't like. Same with the Equinoxe Infinity. Spoils the music. I boosted +2db treble and cut below 20hz and it came out better, but not much. Embarrassing really that you have to do that. Aren't they supposed to be... See full review

It's a nice album. Just as good as Rosetta. Nice to hear that Vangelis still has it at age 78! And may he do a couple of more albums! This album is pretty up to date with the sounds and has some great vocal tracks and orchestration. Every track is... See full review

It's unfortunate he took this direction twenty years ago, he started making electronica music, when he could have taken a melodic direction, with proper compositions, mixing analog sounds and digital in some innovative, original and beautiful way. But... See full review
Jean-Michel Jarre - Equinoxe Infinity
posted a comment on Jean-Michel Jarre - Equinoxe Infinity. about 1 year ago
Equinoxe Infinity as well as Oxygene 3 are mixed too loud. I loathe this loudness-mixing style that infests modern music. Everything is in-your-face, cold and digital. A wall of sound (noise). There is no warmth to it. It's too inhumane, like our... See full review
Vangelis - Nocturne (The Piano Album)
posted a comment on Vangelis - Nocturne (The Piano Album). about 1 year ago
I don't think there's any edition without noise and pops, because it's in the music itself. It was recorded that way. I too was disappointed but I cleaned the tracks digitally. It wasn't hard to do with a couple of audio plug-ins - one for analog... See full review

Very good. Very well done. Seems like Moby has been listening to Takagi Masakatsu's Marginalia series :) This is very similar. But then again, Takagi wasn't the first to do live piano improvisations either? I'm sure many people have done this before... See full review

Reasonably good effort from the former Amiga musician Jogeir Liljedahl. His first album. Very melodic music. Lots of guitar, piano and synth. It sounds a bit amateurish with tracker vibes and MIDI, as you would expect from a tracker musician. It also... See full review

Definately better than the first album. Here's some solid effort. Sounds more professional yet it remains fresh. It isn't too serious or boring. The tracks are quite long which is good and connect well. Jogeir has done surprisingly good here. It's... See full review

Yes he's 50. But his style of music, existing, lyrics, life - is that of a much younger person. I would say 42. That's just how I feel. He does not sound old to me. Probably because he's doing his own thing and not trying to fit. Willie Nelson is 88... See full review

The album "Michael" and "Xscape" really are quite good but still minor releases. Not as good as the old albums. Very nice for fans though. Which is understandable as Michael himself was not directing, producing or approving these. 4/5 for both albums.... See full review

Sorry but I don't see how Will is sixty :) More like 42. He's just had his first child born. That will probably inspire him to write more songs. Some artists are more productive than others. Will doesn't seem to control it too much. He just makes and... See full review

You are correct. But you can still make it sound better. I have done that for dozens of albums! One trick is to cut everything below 20hz that will ease and clear the sound. Because all of the higher frequencies ride on top of low frequencies and the... See full review

Armin recycling all of the old songs again. It's done very well - but it's artificial, processed and pretentious. It's like a deluxe hamburger that you eat with some fine wine. Sorry but I do not want my music to be hamburgers. There's hardly any... See full review

One of the dumber decisions to cut this album down to just 12 tracks. Rather than split it needlessly between two CDs they should have put 16 tracks on it (and forget the rest). Now, I've made my own version with all the 19 tracks. Pretty good album... See full review
