Welcome profile visitor!

I'm a german guy in my early 30s and my biggest passion is music. Thinking and hearing music since a young child, went through various phases in my music life. Explored deeper into the wide fields of music as I got older, sometimes returned to my roots. Learned through music that being open can only widen your own horizon, prejudgings not allowed.

Music is such a spacious field and thinking about it makes me feel excited to explore all the stuff that still is unlistened to my ears.

Getting inspired by all you reviewers on this awesome website, so many with huge writing talent. In a same way I want to express my thoughts about music too and learn.

Good release. Notable mentions:

Damn cool breakbeat tracks on the Flag Side (4 X Funk / Powerfull Impact), always neat to find something like that when you least expect it. Otherwise read the near perfect review from Jarren.

A1: These Amiga dudes had a very excellent idea to use the Morrison sample from 'A Little Game', which is part of 'The Celebration Of The Lizard'. It's actually two samples put together. First "Back in my brain", then "called Go insane".

'Merry X-Mess' main part has to be one of the first tracks where I heard the typical melodic Happy Hardcore Piano Style Sound. Usually this became popular 1-2 years later.

The killer on this record is 'Overkill'. A fast TB-303 Acid Hardcore smasher with atmospherical string parts added, which works really well together. The new take from Maurice Steenbergen on 'No Women Allowed' also is pretty great and has a nice bass part. See full review

No idea why this record has such a low average rating. It presents more variety than some other records. We have hardcore smashers with fun ('Jan') and more serious ('Sandman') on the A-Side, slightly softer tracks like 'Mind' (with pitch vocals) and... See full review

First of all the sample they used (Minnie Riperton - Lovin' You) is amazing and carries most of this record. The very talented singer (5 octave range!) already died age 31 after 5 years of the release of the original (1974) due to cancer.

This might be a bit confusing to some but this compilation isn't really in the same line as the 'The Sound Of Rotterdam – Volume 1' (ROT 002) release, which was a usual single release.

Never got the feel for the A2 track. For me it's a simple 909 usage with MC Joe doing his job talking into a microphone and some crowd in the background, nothing else. Maybe this was the shit back then but looking at it today its so bland. Even the A1... See full review
