I would not recommend this pressing. Even though the sound stage is decent, the overall sound is muffled and bland.

Yeah it's not unlike Swans to release a triple LP. I think a lot of people would've bought it. Maybe the choice has something to do with the shortages in the vinyl pressing industry.

Interesting, I felt like 2500 would've been enough to await my chance. Did they maybe press less copies than promised? If it is indeed so popular, the upside is a black variant is probably not far away

This has some sibilance issues and you have to turn it up a bit, but the recording is absolutely gorgeous.

This is the record I use when I want to demonstrate "in the room presence" on my stereo. Miles is just standing right in front of you. Absolutely amazing.

Quite pleased with this. The record is almost completely free of surface noise and the mastering is decent. Bit odd to put the hype sticker directly on the sleeve, but no complaints otherwise.

Does anybody have any information about the pressing of this release? I pre-ordered this a long time ago at JPC, but it seems to keep on being delayed.

The RSD website states there are 2000 copies pressed, so I guess it won't be so hard to get one.

Please note a lot of people (including myself) pre-ordered this, without knowing the "box" would be of such poor quality. So I think we're allowed to be disappointed ;-)

Please beware, this is not actually a box set. It's just a very wide single sleeve. Very flimsy and prone to damaging as well. Bit of a bummer if you ask me.

The spine reads stereo, but to my ears this is a mono recording. No sound stage whatsoever. Does anyone else have the same experience?

This sounds pretty good. Smooth/warm vocals combined with a decent sound stage. The quality of the vinyl is relatively high with minimal surface noise and the included booklet is a nice touch. An underrated 2020 release, in my opinion.

This record sounds amazing. It has such engaging dynamics and a great sound stage, it just completely sucks you in. Probably one the best sounding classical records in my collection. Highly recommended to test your equipment on.

My copy indeed sounds like it was recorded under water, just terrible. Cannot compare it to another pressing, so I'm not sure whether it's a pressing issue or simply a poor recording.

I've listened to two copies of this pressing and both suffered the static issues described below. I think the sound quality is on par with other modern day pressings. It's detailed enough, but it falls short in dynamics.

Sounds spectacular. Very detailed, nice seperation of sounds and "in the room" presence. The vinyl is completely silent and the marble looks great. Highly recommended.

This does not sound particularly good. Although the vinyl is silent, it's quite sibilant. More importantly, the mastering is rather poor. It sounds very compressed with muffled vocals. The recording is also very loud, so I need to turn back the volume...

That's really odd, I now understand what ausgraeme was talking about below. I just double-checked my copy to be 100% sure, but it plays at 33rpm. I guess you guys have a misspressing. Please add this to the database.

Absolutely abysmal pressing. My copy is crackly as hell and the piano strokes sound incredibly bland and muffled. It would be unlistenable if the music wasn't so good. Do avoid.

Even though my copy does not suffer from any pressing defects, I would not recommend this pressing. The bass is very heavy, which is fun, but at points drowns out the vocals, which then sound flat and distant (tested on two amps). I haven't listened...

Amazing pressing. Almost completely quiet vinyl. Rita's vocals really come alive and the sound stage is more than decent. The sleeve reproduction is absolutely stunning.
