Where do the discs I sell come from? ...
My brother and I started collecting vinyl as teenagers in the early 1970's ... then (with much snarling and gnashing of teeth) we switched to CD collecting in the '80's ... and then (with very great pleasure) added vinyl back into the obsession in the 1990's. Of course there was no internet for the majority of the time that we were amassing our records. We did it old school ... and happily got dirty doing it. You're probably much younger than me If you've never had the pleasure of spending untold hours flipping through the stacks ...
Sadly my beloved brother passed away in 2004 at only 46 years old ... and therefore his collection became merged with mine. I haven't tried to count the pieces ... I suspect it's somewhere in the mid to upper tens of thousands. Please know that EVERYTHING I sell here is from this treasured and well cared for personal collection.
For now I am only listing CD's. I won't sell my vinyl until I'm more comfortable that I can list, grade and ship it properly. I personally inspect and to the best of my ability honestly and accurately describe each and every title that I list. Needless to say, this is a slow process. So I won't keep too many titles listed at one time. I want to make sure that I can effectively and quickly process orders from those who purchase from me.
The Discogs database is a truly amazing resource for collectors. I really am proud to be selling here. I believe that record collectors are a crazy, beautiful, special breed of people. So although personal circumstances have put me here as a seller ... please know that I approach the process as the collector I once was. I can only hope that as the Discogs Marketplace grows, the database is not sacrificed in the process. It would be shameful if it turned into just another information muddled, scammer infested, uninformed seller's wasteland.
For my part ... I can only promise to treat this site ... the database ... and the people who utilize it ... with fairness, accuracy, honesty and respect.
Warmest regards to you all ... and here's to having wax in the veins!
