Who cares if they are basically a manufactured “boy band”, The Monkees are f*cking awesome! Their TV show was great, and their music is absolutely fantastic.

The Donkey Kong Rap on the soundtrack to DK64 needs a reissue on vinyl, cassette, 8 track, minidisc and wax cylinder, as soon as possible, as it's so legendary.

Riva Starr & Todd Terry - This Is The Sound

Tech House may be a bit oversaturated at the moment, but this tune is a real banger. You can never go wrong with the duo of legends that are Todd Terry and Riva Starr!
Qubiko - French Affair EP

Absolute stand-out release from Eats Everything's label, Edible. Qubiki really delivers with this EP, especially 'Bisby', which has a bassline that's hotter than a date with Billie Piper. Love it!

There is a rumour floating about that a criminal organisation known as The Vicious Six snuck in a subliminal message that reads "Welcome to the Vicious Six" if you play the chorus of this track backwards. Ask Felonious Gru or Dr. Joseph Nafario.

One of the most fascinating tributes to this hip-hop legend was in in 2019 when a fan from the British seaside town of Newhaven (a place with no rap connections) campaigned to have a memorial bench in memory of him. He succeeded!

It is probably just me, or do you hear the prototype of what became known as late 2000’s fidget/blog house on the track ‘Roulé Boulé’?

Classic Eminem track about Mom’s spaghetti. . . and also the struggles of emerging hip-hop talent, B-Rabbit from the surprisingly decent quasi-biopic film ‘8 Mile’.

The song was originally written by Henry VII as a tribute to his decapitated wives . . . or maybe not! Great classic House tune, that still excites crowds today.

Considering he hadn’t found his trademark style yet, Em’s debut solo LP isn’t half bad (he considers it to be a bit of a rip-off of Nas). The rapping is excellent, even it does lack Em’s wicked sense of dark comedy, and his Slim Shady alter ego is... See full review

Awesome movie soundtrack from a film I've actually never seen, performed by the guy who did the voice of Chef in 'South Park'. That theme tune alone is guaranteed to get your body moving, and even spawned a cover version from Bart and Lisa Simpson.

The first commercially successful "rap" record, preceding the classic Sugarhill Gang tune, 'Rapper's Delight' by 11 years. It reached No.19 in the UK Singles Charts, and it's a great record.

While the original version is pretty damn good, the best version has to be the Soulchild Remix, which is very Fatboy Slim-esque. The Wiseguys remix is also pretty good, despite not using much from the original song, has a really cool late 1990's funky... See full review

Really good official remixes of some of Paul McCartney's solo tunes, especially the remixes of 'Coming Up' (similar in tone to Fatboy Slim's remix of Cornershop's 'Brimful of Asha') and 'Temporary Secretary' (Banger!). Definitely one to put in your crates. See full review

One of my favourite Freddy Fresh releases - A really banging 1990's Funky House tune, plus the remixes from Powder Productions and DJ Spinna are also excellent in their own right. Mr. Fresh knows how to make a really awesome funked up tune.

Jim Carrey's rendition of "I Am The Walrus" with it's line "I am the Eggman" is really prophetic, as in 2020, he played Dr. Robotnik in the Sonic The Hedgehog, who is also sometimes as known as Dr. Eggman. Go-goo-g'joob!
