Great “best-of” show showing off Idol and his backing band at the top of their game during the Rebel Yell tour. Since there never was live releases from this era, these KBFH shows are a great way to get that live experience.

They’re both cut from the same source (OG master tapes at Sterling Sound), but this one is pretty awesome. The AP press I’m sure will have a leg up over this since it’s a 2xLP 45 cut.

Someone has a rip of this online and I can confirm it does decode properly via SQ (Marantz 4240 with the SQA-2 decoder installed).

I’ve got this same pressing too, and from the looks of it this was considered a “remaster” when Geffen acquired the rights to distribute this album overseas, as this was the same master used on the Geffen CD and cassette pressings as well.

Yeah, the original pressings of these sound great as is, I don’t see this one being an improvement. I don’t think it even fixed the infamous reverse channel issue that was present form the start.

Apparently the 1982 “20 Greatest Hits” comp was going to have an 8T release, but was withdrawn last minute and all copies were ordered to be destroyed. Only 10 copies are known to exist.

@JazzElectronics if you still have your copy, can you confirm if the runouts include SP-AR on side 1 and SPAR on side 2? I've got a copy that has that quasi-quad mix and it's a bit noticeable in certain parts, but not by much.

Exciting news! Only thing is that it looks like the wrap around Maxell sleeve isn’t going to be with it, since that was a promotional tie in with the brand for the album when it was originally released.

I recall hearing a few small clicks in that track, but after a quick clean and static brush run, it played without any issues.

The US Masterdisk kicks ass in terms of how well it was cut, but I give this one a slight edge over all because of the fact there’s virtually no surface noise.

Odd that the international releases on 8-Track like this one have the original track list front to back, yet the US Columbia Records issue on 8T has Pigs on the Wing as one song with the Snowy White solo.

Well said. Held off on buying those recent remasters/reissues since the one for Heaven or Las Vegas was terrible, and lucked out on this exact pressing from a local shop. This sounds phenomenal, dead silent wax to boot.

Miles better than the recent remaster/reissue from 4AD, full of sound and very dynamic in sound. If you can’t find a good deal on a clean original UK or US pressing, this is a good one to get.
