I have been into 50’s & 60’s rock ‘n’ roll for as long as I can remember. Introduced to the music as a very young boy when my late father brought home a bunch of old London American 45’s, I quickly developed the bug and have been an avid ever since. From the first old record I heard, "So Long Baby" by "Del Shannon", I enjoy discovering new rock ’n’ roll I’ve never heard before, even today.
I would describe myself as an enthusiast amateur when it comes to music and this is something I do as a therapeutic pastime. A couple of years ago I made the decision to let go of some of my collectable 45's, EP's, LP's & Digital Media. My collection has grown over the years from record fairs, my local independent record store (Grouchos) and collecting from old-style postal auctions (Hugh McCallum). I've lots to sell and am listing 'new' items regularly! I have a stack of rare old gems the majority of which are in an awesome condition, and day by day I find many need to be added as they are not yet in the Discogs database.
12” 33 R.P.M. LP’s:
The majority of the LP's in my collection have never (or rarely) been played. I was a collector who snapped up anything issued by my favourite artists for collecting's sake, and these have been in storage for some time. The condition of the sleeves doesn't always match the condition of the vinyl due to the impact of long-term storage. There's not much in it but I want to explain why LP sleeves in general are not graded as highly as the LP vinyl.
7” 45 R.P.M. Singles:
All of the singles that I am selling are offered for sale with the original sleeve they had when they first came into my possession, regardless of the sleeve condition. I can only vouch for original sleeve authenticity with purchases made new and am unable to verify sleeve authenticity regarding 2nd, 3rd or 4th hand singles coming into my possession. If (original) sleeves are of vital importance to you, please enquire before placing your order. The sleeve grading will always be as accurate as possible and where I can, I will add additional information.
I grade CD's on the condition of the media and inlay inserts AND NOT on the condition of the jewel case, although I will offer comment on any defect in a jewel case. CD's can be shipped without jewel cases should a buyer require this and postage will be recalculated and if necessary, altered accordingly.
It is important that I stress I am not on here to compete with other sellers as this is not in any sense a "business". I am offering my collection for sale on my terms so if I don't sell something, it really does not matter to me! It is therefore sensible that I share where my selling prices have been derived, and these have been set as one, or as a combination of the following:
1. My own valuation of the disc based on the nostalgic / sentimental value to me, monetized and without ANY grading considerations.
2. "Vinec Publishing, A Price Reference Guide To Singles & EPs".
It should go without saying but let me say it anyway to avoid any elephants in the room, if you don't like my sale prices, please don't buy from me and then complain, thanks.
Grading Of Sale Items
Please note!: Items are sold as described and all have been, a) viewed, b) described from purchase history, or c) played in order to accurately establish the condition of the media. I sell in good faith and within the spirit of the wording used in Discogs Grading.
I have listened to several audio clips posted on Discogs and it seems aural grading and what this means, varies considerably. If I think I have not accurately graded an item, I will contact the buyer for advice and direction before confirming the sale. I have posted several audio clips (over 800 so far) but if you want a specific audio clip added before placing an order, please just ask and it will be done. All audio clips are the actual item for sale digitally recorded here "as is" creating clips using Audacity (128kbps) with an iMac and a Numark TTUSB turntable. Like the majority of the human race I am far from perfect and won't always get things right. If I fall short on expectations I will always try to make amends. If you have issues with any purchase from me, please let me know what they are as soon as possible. I regularly spend time checking my whole inventory and submissions, correcting errors and trying to ensure my inventory is totally aligned with the correct submissions. Even after doing and redoing this, I’m still stumbling across errors (not all mine I should add) or submissions that need further tweaks, so mistakes will happen but that’s all they ever will be, genuine mistakes. It would make sense that you double check with me particularly if you are considering buying high-value releases.
Although I am selling my collection, I am above all, a contributor. I feel it important to try and improve the accuracy and detail of the Discogs Database wherever I can, and as I become more knowledgable and experienced I attempt wherever possible to improve the quality and completeness of database entries and correspond with users in a friendly, hopefully beneficial, and genuinely helpful way. This is important to me despite being on the receiving-end of some nasty and fractious exchanges at the hands of some horribly arrogant, and awfully behaved, Discogs users who seem to think the anonymity of cowardly hiding behind a keyboard, somehow gives them some right to behave like this. It hasn't put me off though.
At the bottom of this page I have listed some of the best, most helpful and knowledgable Discogs users I have come across in my time here so far.
If you have any concerns, questions or wish clarification, please ask prior to payment, and most definitely before shipping. Please familiarise yourself with my shipping options as the responsibility of how you have your order shipped is entirely yours as a buyer.
Finally, anyone with specific wants, questions, clarifications, suggestions, or reservations, then please get in touch. If you spot any errors, please let me know here on the relevant submission page or by messaging me. I am on twitter @DundeeDiskery, and I have a Discogs page on Facebook, TheDundeeDiskery.
