I've been collecting records since 1978 or so. Paused for a couple of decades, then resumed.

These pressings are astoundingly good. Got this in excellent condition at an Ottawa shop for $59.99 Cdn, and it's one of my favourite vintage vinyl acquisitions.

As should be obvious from the cover art, this is the UK version of the LP.

What's not so obvious is that it is the stereo version, however the back cover has a reproduction of the original "stereo" disclaimer warning of incompatibility with older mono ... See full review

The original mono mix of "Revolution" is a revelation. More distorted, heavier, and perfect.

This Canadian repress has the same tracklist as the British version of this album, rather than the US one.

I doubt that this photo could even be taken, 50 years later, never mind put on the cover of a major music release.

That said, I don't see the image as sexual or obscene. The problem, for me, is that the child was too young to consent to a topless photo. ... See full review

Not a great pressing, but "Nothin' In The World Can Stop Me Worryin' 'Bout That Girl" is one of my favourite Kinks songs.

Actually, one of my favourite songs, period.

This is the original monaural version, and it sounds excellent!

A really great compilation of The Kinks at their most English. Not really a "greatest hits" but rather a well-curated overview of their late '60s - early '70s sound. Very enjoyable listen.

Chess label is from the '70s. References GRT Record Group.

Shouldn't these Canadian ones be listed with the US versions?

This original Canadian release appears to have different tracks than the US and UK versions:

Compared to the US version, it drops "Belated Forgiveness Plea" and adds "Oh Deed I Do"
Compared to the UK version, it substitutes "Universal Soldier" for ... See full review

Sounds terrible. It's harsh and thin. Even "Lola" sounds nasty.
posted a review of The Stooges - Highlights From The Fun House Sessions. 7 months ago
I've owned the original Fun House since the '80s. The expanded CD for years. This double album is an essential supplement to the original album. I've heard the "full sessions" and it is excessive.

I have this one, and really like the sound. It's full of distortion, but in a way that suits the music. Far more interesting listen than my original CD.

I know, right? They should have had so much more to work with. I guess Easy Action has all the good tapes.

"I Got a Right," one of the Stooges' best songs, is presented here in the Leslie speaker version. I think it's the same as the digital file that was offered as a free download by Iggy & The Stooges several years ago. A far inferior version to the one you ... See full review

From http://www.searchingforagem.com/1960s/MonoLPs007.htm:

"The late Sam Visser had a copy of the C2L 41 Canadian mono 2LP set which he believed was an earlier mix than the US mono album, this is confirmed by Roger Kornovich who has a copy of the same ... See full review

I understand that the original mono masters were discarded by ABC-Dunhill in the early '70s, however a Steve Hoffman discussion thread has a user who claims this Canadian pressing is true mono (rather than a stereo fold-down). Is this pressing actually ... See full review

I'm not sure about Tony Visconti's remix of this. His work on the re-released live albums has been exceptional, but this one feels like revisionism. I have a first pressing of the original release, and the (somewhat) harsh high end reflects the new wave ... See full review

The two records each have "Side 1" and "Side 2." I thought mine was a misprint at first.

Is this fully live, or are they performing on top of backing tracks? (Common on TV at the time.)

The lead vocals seem "real" but the backing vocals don't.
