The entry should be corrected, as this single is a double A-side, so "Step in time" is the legitimate A-side too.

Agree with AnnaLogue fully - a truly addictive record, magnetic synth sounds, great vocals and lyrics. Sad to say, "Step in time" is no ... See full review

Fantastic one-off single! The A-side is a great lost early electro hit, with the synthesizer riff to die for - captivating and enchanting. The "Miller-sound" is in evidence, of course. The B-side is nearly as good (but still not as good, of course), ... See full review

Have to be blunt here - probably the best "minimal-synth" album to come out of the then-West Germany. The first side is quite upbeat (by the genre's standards), with "Spiel mit mir" being the obvious hit, the second side is wonderfully moody and ... See full review

Wholly agree! Great Spanish synthpop - energetic, upbeat, very uplifting. Reminds me of Azul y Negro a bit, but has a flavour of its own. Recommended without reservations!

Not really very electronic, unlike the description suggests - synths are mainly used as a background washes while drum machines, guitars (funked-up bass and rhythm guitar) and sometimes sax are very much to the forefront, though they only create a wall ... See full review

The below comment about sound quality is utter pants - CD sounds great, clean and not too loud, very nice to listen to. Some really good - and rare! - numbers on it, too. Orior, for example, or Firmament and the Elements. Some crap, too - Allies leap ... See full review

Needs to be reissued on CD (with original sound) urgently - the vinyl is very hard to find and too pricey.

To each their own, guys. I happily skip two thirds of it without missing much at all. And, frankly, cannot see what others seem to be seeing in it. not the one I'd recommend.

Perhaps it would have been better to replace "Science fact" with "Genetic warfare" for better symmetry - two uptempo tracks and two atmospheric ones. But this minor quibble aside, this one is as significant as the early works of the Human League and ... See full review

Tend to agree. It gets tremendous praise but I have to wonder how many people actually give the A-side a second listen. It's a bit too monotonous for its own good (even a one-finger synth line would have been welcome). Definitely a period piece and "of ... See full review

Heard many great things about this one, but in truth it's kinda crap. Vocals on first song spoil it completely (as there are so many of them), unpleasant to listen to. The second one is much better, though, both vocally and musically. Though all songs ... See full review

Not only that Devo motif - the very first track is his own version of "Pulstar" by Vangelis! :)

But his early 1980s albums are fantastic for every lover of early synthpop. His work is usually classed as "library music" but there's next to none of that ... See full review

I absolutely agree! This is the best track on the album but this un-sychronicity is frustrating. Maybe the author just didn't notice? Or it was intentional? Hmmm.

Other than that the album is great, much better than his other works! Which makes the ... See full review

That's the best sounding copy of Iko's Digital Delight that I own! Clear, punchy, very dynamic and bristling with enegry! Highly recommend this release.

Where did you get that? Not only it isn't the highest chart entry, it isn't even close to their best position in the LP charts anywhere.

The clear vinyl version was usually the first pressing of the record - with the black vinyl one taking up the rest of the pressings. So the clear vinyl one can be seen as the first to market.

"We Move" on the 7" single is the original version that still bides its time to appear on CD - while the 1983 remix is on almost all of the Visage compilation. Perhaps the original dance mix = extended/full version is some kind of substitute... Anyway, ... See full review

Of course it could - BB was a huge underground hit at the time of FTG writing in the late 1979, being a staple at the Blitz club where FTG creators hung out regularly.

The A-side of the 7" single is just an LP version without its opening bleeping electronic effects. The B-side is a straight LP track. Contents of the original 12" single are the same as on 7" - quite a common thing at the time.

The first extended ... See full review

The A-side is not really a remix, it just chops off the first drumbeats from the LP version to make all instruments start similtaneously and fades out a bit earlier.

The main point of interest is the B-side - which exists in two versions. The main one, ... See full review

A great B-sides compendium on the 2nd disc. Still, it's strange they didn't include "You Jazzy Nork!" (from the 12" of "Things Can Only Get Better") and "Have You Heard The News?" (from UK 12" of The Prisoner) - "Bounce Right Back" could've been excluded ... See full review

Of all the CD re-releases it's still the original one (Beehive) that is get, all the others mar the sound in one way or the other.

Well, the short version of I Ran is simply one without intro. It's the US version - one guitar solo and chorus repeated to fade - that'd make a good bonus here.

Track by A Flock of Seagulls is a 1983 7" version, not the 1981 original. Anyway, unique to this CD as it has never been digitally reproduced elsewhere.

Thanks for such in-depth overview - the record is fantastic and very dense, it's really one of the best in electronic 1980s and coming from Portugal adds a special flavour to it. Great of you to highlight it!

All tracks are album versions, so no big deal. The only unique feature is the edit of "Autobahn" done seemingly especially for this release as there are no signs of it being released earlier (or later, for that reason).

Well, actually the real timing of Technopolis here is 3:40 - it's even shorter than the Japanese 7" mix. So it's NOT the album version.
