Disc 1 is pretty forgettable (except for brilliant Larkin's "Chasers") but Disc 2 is quite decent, seamlessly mixed blend of goa (Eat Static × MWNN), tribal (Der 3. Raum) and techno (The Advent).

Just bought EU CD (SONOPRESS H-2913 / 7897212 A 4 + cat. #s printed in booklet) at the Berlin flea market. The case is orange but the plastic holder insert is clear (in order to see inlay picture?) and no backside sticker at all. Anyone got this variant ... See full review

Also, who made artwork? Can't believe Peter Saville would create this cheap pseudo-scary Photoshop collage.

Still not sure about original release date. Some sources (Cocteaux' official site, Allmusic) mention November, 1985 [btw, it also matches CAD 513 cat. no.]. But some (including 4AD site) say it's January (13th), 1986.

For a band with such an extensive discography (remember "regional", "fan-club only" releases and countless singles/EPs besides regular studio works), "Smash the System" is more valuable than just another "best of" compilation. Encompassing 1990s and ... See full review

4AD had a strong impact upon me. Suffice it to say, that significal part (well, best part) of my CD collection are the label's releases. Indeed, 4AD is "the perfect antidote", as one of its fan-sites is called.

The last track features a verse by Tamara Yan, a poetess from Kazan, Russia. These rhymes are about a lady and her two namesake admirers who hadn't return after the war.

This compilation is not just a bulk of all PSB hits to date; the main value is that these great songs mostly come as single versions, sometimes very different from those we've heard on albums (surprisingly "Heart" version is even longer than on LP). ... See full review

As you can see this DVD provides no a viewer with a great video collection. One half is just appearances on UK TV (Top Of The Pops) and the other half isn't awesome too. Plus "a film" that includes The Queen is Dead/There's a Light That Never Goes ... See full review
