The Undergraduates* / DJ Crystl - Bass Face 94 / Kold Drumz

Absolutely love this 12", it's the Undergraduates tune that does it for me, the way they chopped the Amen, proper banging! I'm pretty sure it was played at Rupture at some point because it takes me back to a night out every time I hear this tune. The... See full review

Most helpful. Just seen this come up in an online sale, and having a listen before purchasing I recognised that sample instantly, but from the Lone track, which I bought on CD when it came out - still probably Lone's finest work. A great choice of... See full review

Recently dug this out and whacked the volume up - boy, did it not disappoint!! I'm taIking about the Ectasy re-fix - Guaranteed to get you moving! I'm a big fan of the original (Centurion mix).. but this is a clever dance floor bomb. Max credit to Jam City! See full review

I don't own many box sets, but I'm sure glad I bought this one! Ever since I first heard the band on the Minimal Wave tapes I was an instant fan, and soon after purchased Lost and Late which I adored (and still do). The original LP's were out of my... See full review

This album is superb - don't normally buy instro albums but every track is quality. Does anyone know where you can get the tracks WITH the featured rappers too?

The Too Shy sample does spoil the tune somewhat but the rest of the track, and indeed the rest of the EP is quality!

I've bought some amazing Hip Hop records recently but this is certainly one of the best. Can't wait to hear more from Nugz. An excellent rota of rappers here, but even the instrumental interludes are packed with prime beats and samples. So glad to... See full review

One of the best albums of 2019. So many great tracks, Butcher Lords feat Benny and the Pete Rock produced For A Reason are stand out tracks. So glad to own this

Great compilation from that classic era when turntablism was starting to develop technically and the DMC championships were getting global recognition. This is a bargain LP with loads of great tracks even if you aren't particularly looking for DJ... See full review

Serious dance floor destroyer that can be put to effective use in a range of sets. With the recent renewed interest in The Beatfreaks and Blowfelt, it will only take some DJ to drop this in a set to get the kids searching for it.. and the prices... See full review

Even though Melle Mel and crew were considered old school by 1989, they certainly hold their own with this album! White Lines 2 is brought bang up to date and the title track Piano is up there with some of the best from the era - not to be slept on!

Recently purchased this is part of a bundle, and very pleasantly surprised. I was recently reminded how great 1990 was in terms of experimentalism. The new sampling technology was taken to it's limits and the UK were ahead of the game with regards to... See full review

I bought my copy here on discogs just over 6 years ago and I didn't pay much for it. I first heard on a mix by Brighton DJ Donga and I also heard him play it out on NYE - the bass is serious! In fact I blew a really nice speaker playing this too loud.... See full review

The ONLY D'n'B tune I bought in 2000.. I didn't buy another until 2014. (admittedly I missed out on some great new stuff from the likes of Breakage etc) but I'm so glad I have this. Total Science did absolute justice to the OG and created another... See full review

'Check Me Out' is one of my all time faves from the early tech step era. It's got the hip hop samples, those classic steppin' breaks, and such a dark but grooooovy bassline. Better than Killamanjaro IMO. Get yourself a copy!

NO comment! Both sides are quality. Bigga Times is an amen stormer that can be dropped alongside contemporary 140 jungle tunes and still stand its head high. As for the flip, Mark One was one on top form in this era. Alongside Raindance, the Stargate... See full review

The Krust remix of rain is simply superb. I'm aware it's not to everyone's taste but I've always loved it. Krust keeps the best of the elements found on the flip (which I'm pretty sure includes a sample from the film 'Taxi Driver') - and then puts... See full review

Oh my! Recently 'rediscovered' this one and boy, it's all about the 'dub mix'! It doesn't sound dated at all, and many house tracks from 1990 have drum patterns that sound very much from that specific period. In fact there are no sounds at all that... See full review
