I have been an avid collector of music ever since I was a kid and have a huge passion for all styles of electronic music, especially those in the breakbeat hardcore, jungle and drum & bass genres. I have been collecting vinyl, CD's and cassettes since the early nineties and have in the past 5 years dabbled with producing music in the breakbeat hardcore/darkcore style with some success.

I have had tracks featured on labels including Paranoid Recordings, Strictly Nu-Skool, Switchbade Digital and 7th Storey Projects, and I am currently awaiting my latest release on Jedi Recordings.

I am also a regular contributor to the Strictly NuSkool Blog, where I review jungle/drum & bass and the occasional breakbeat hardcore releases.

I remember seeing this album being reviewed by some music mag back in '92 (Select, Mixmag or something similar?), and the reviewer claiming that the vast majority of tracks were throwaway rave fodder that would soon be forgotten in comparison to the... See full review

'Prisms' was an extremely overlooked techstep gem. Those pads are haunting to say the least. Always made me think of the end of 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' when the Ark is finally opened and the malevolent forces are unleashed. The trakc is also very... See full review

An absolute classic from Jay D'Cruze here. 'Lonely' is one hell of a powerful and emotive jungle track, and on listening to it again recently, I am 90% positive that the opening strings and Rhodes keys are sampled from Jamiraqua's 'Too Young To Die' intro. See full review

I remember finding some of Moving Shadow's late nineties output verging on the bland side, with some releases being happy to just lay down a series of uncomplicated beats with a "jazzy" sample slapped on top. However there were the likes of Dead Calm... See full review

Blame's 'Sub Committee' EP is an absolute slept on gem and a strong 4-tracker too, with not a single dud on there. The EP epitomises the early nineties "intelligent" jungle sound perfectly, with strong detroit techno influences appearing on many of... See full review

This EP is absolutely tearing. Tim has replicated that 1993, Dark Horse Records, ruff jungle techno vibe to a tee and added his own distinct style to the mix too.
"Journey To The Moon" is pure darkside bliss. We need more releases like this!!!

Is actually 'Arron' that's on the A-Side of the Ray "K" 'Nu Toys!!!!' dubplate. I need to get myself a copy of the original 12" release.

Only just found out tonight that Zinc was behind this techstep beast of a tune. Would never have imagined it. "Immortal" is still killing it 22 years later.

I thought I'd just picked up a duff copy. Always thought that the 'Heading To The Light (Remix)' sounded a bit off, especially on the strings. I did file away one side of the spindle hole to centre it a bit better, which isn't perfect but seemed to... See full review

Yeah. I thought so. Have never heard a 'Dub Mix' of this tune. Got to say that this was one of my first ever vinyl pickups when I first started grabbing hardcore/rave/jungle 12"s in '94. I wasn't a fan of overly ecstatic tunes, but there was a certain... See full review

I am positive that the strings to 'Something' are from the same source or either lifted directly from 808 State's 'Plan 9 (April Guitars On Fire Mix)' intro.

I also picked up a white, die cut sleeve version of 'Feel Good '95' back in 1995. Was a bit gutted that it didn't come with the full artwork as the above release did (and all my other Omni Trio 10"s).

I was also a touch disappointed with the B.O.C. remix too. That '80's synth-pop melody sounds particularly jarring to me personally, but that may be just down to me. 'Endless (Drum Edit)' grabs more of of my attention with it's hazy, dub-folk-tronica... See full review

Am sure that little additional vocal said something like "and for being such good listeners, here's a bonus track". Been a while since I heard this mix though. Definitely at a faster tempo. Maybe to fit in with '93 BPMs?

The track times listed on the back cover are incorrect for DJ Trace's 'Mid Town Method (Level II)', with the track running at around 7.20 mins and not 5.18 as listed. A real gangsta, tech-step epic of a tune this one.

Bit late in replying here Jarlek, but for years I had thought the sample said "there are no bad guys, just the stiff guys". Imagining that it had come from some old black and white American mobster movie. Would love to know where it's from too.
